    It's not worth it!
Very touristic area and low quality of the ski. The bus drivers are rude, drive aggressively and don't even know how to say hello. The only positive thing is about the workers from restaurants. They are very nice. Also at the ski school you can not pay by card , they accept only cash or maestro! Never again!

    Top place for ski holidays
It was our 5th ski holiday there. Brought few times also my friends there. Next year they will come back with their families. It was so far their best place for ski holidays. Good infrastructure and well maintained. Many shops, all kind of restaurants, different types of lodging. Did not miss anything. Only negative side during last 2 years were traffic jams to get there or to leave.

Zell am See has lost its charm
Totally spoilt, it's lost all it's originality, don't know what country I'm in, halal restaurants opening on every corner! Ali Baba is one of them! I want to visit Austria not the Emirates! People are rude and very demanding!

If you want quality accommodation & food in a ski resort then Zell Am See is a must.
The free night time entertainment was a bonus along with the many bars, restaurants & nightclubs..
And the scenery is awesome with huge mountains & Lake Zell at your doorstep..

I’m a returning skier, after 20 years. Great slopes and aprè ski. Had great weather this week so some lower slopes now lacking snow cover Feb 18th 2023, including route from ski school to city. Watch out for red 20, should probably be a black under the current conditions (it scared my daughter who’s done lots of Red runs and 1 or 2 blacks with her instructor) and the alternative gondola is worth taking if you’re not 100% confident (otherwise lovely route in to city). Also, bottom 20m of snow road from city is tricky black, which is a shame, although caused much family amusement and competition to see who could get down without falling!! Great skiing and wonderful people would love to come again!

Very inconvenient / fragmented / denying service ski bus - unless directly in the city, prepare for massive inconvenience.
We had an Appartment in Schüttdorf (very close to the Areitsbahn but not close enough to walk with kids). Some Salzburg-verkehr buses accept the Skipass as ticket, others not (you'll know: from the chauffeur - at least for us the chauffeur made a rather unfriendly appearance of being annoyed) others did not stop at the bus stop even though signs were made. Connection app of Salzburg Verkehr didn't reveal what to expect...

The walk around Zel am See lake is approx 7 miles and took us around 2 hours. A mixture of path/ nature reserve and footpath along the main road. It allows delightful views of all aspects of the lake.

Nice village at the lake. Lake is beautiful, you can rent boats or go on boat panorama trip on the lake, you can swimm (there are lidos with swimming pools), cable cars up to the mountain, hiking/running/cycling trails, restaurants with good food, playgrounds etc. It is a good location for exploring all surrounding areas.

City in itself has not much to offer but the surroundings are the main attraction point. The landscape is magnificent and it changes with every cloud or change in light, so you can say every time that there is something new to be seen. Main tourist area is a litle bit crowded in the evening but not unbearable.

Beautiful surroundings, but did not feel as though we were in Austria. We briefly visited one evening for dinner and walk around the center of town and lakefront. Our visit was during the week of August 15th, and we were surprised to see 90% of the population being from the Middle East, but also very conservative. We were therefore unknowingly inappropriately dressed, and felt very uncomfortable in our tight sport leggings and short sleeves. The discomfort and feeling out of place was mainly due to the looks received by a few Arab men, unfortunately.

Have been in Zell am See from time to time. This is no longer a nice city to visit for experiencing alps, Austrian culture and local street life. Tourists are 90% arab looking people and a lot of them are not behaving like you would expect them to. We experienced a lot of loud hassle between tourists and locals, burka dressed women demanding special treat, people laying down in streets and parking lots praying to Allah. It was like entering market of Marrakesh. This is not what we came to experience. It is a shame that so many years of culture can be ignored only by one single group of tourists. We will seek other alp cities next time.

Watched the swimming stage of Ironman. Incredible spectacle with a lot of entrants the sight and noise was amazing. Congrats to all participants in particular to the Pro Women winner Emma Pallant-Browne (GB).
