As frequent visitors to Austria because of family ties, we often visit St Gilgen which is a stunning little town. However Café Dallmann is not indicative of what Austria does best which is their cake and coffee. We always go as its tradition! but am always left feeling that the cakes could be better, the coffee is mediocre, the staff are very indifferent. If you don't like tourists then either change job or put a sign on the door banning them!! We had to ask twice to have our coffee changed as it was cold and very weak, However it is always consistent in its expensive prices! There are better places to go...just go and look for them!

We stayed in St Gilgen for a week and used Cafe Dollman nearly every day, the tea was very good and the cheesecake was loveley. Contrary to a previous reviewer, i found the staff very pleasant and welcoming.

The owner was really really unkind. I have never been such a horrible shop. The owner do discrimination. You shouldn't go to that horrible shop. The taste was not good but not bad. It was ordinary. We can eat better tastes other shops. I can't understand someone gives them 5 stars.

Do not go there! Very nice plum tart, nice coffee, nicely decorated room, clean toilets.....BUT....very rude bartender. When I asked if I could pay, he started insulting me (and all foreigners in general) in German! I asked him to stop being rude and this prompted even more insults. The owner said she knew he was rude and she added ‘what can I do’?....!.

This very nice and cozy typical Kaffee -as Austrians call it- has so much good and top quality sweets and treats to offer that their daughter offers them now in San Diego, California. After having enjoyed their coffee, Nusstorte we also had self-made Mozartkugeln...hmmmmmmm excellent, so I said "what a pity we can't get them in the States, the owner then explained yes, you can get their goodies here and I was excited. Can't wait to go south and find the place now. Lovely people, go and visit Dallmann

Arrived in St Gilgen just after 2pm ravenous and looking for lunch. Unfortunately all the restaurants we checked in the town were closed between 2-5pm.

We stumbled upon this cafe and when we found out that they were serving goulash soup, thought, this will do!

Whilst waiting for the soup, we read a bit about the cafe and found out that it is actually fairly well known. The cakes in the display cabinet also looked very tempting.

The goulash soup came with a crusty white Austrian roll. This was the best goulash soup we had ever tasted and we practically licked the bowls dry.

Then we ordered tea and cakes. My partner had the truffletorte with whipped cream which was one of the best cakes we had had in Austria. I asked for the Kaiserschmarrn with stewed plums. I had never tried this before but wanted to as it is one of the famous desserts in Austria. Whilst this was fluffy and I think probably a good example of this type of dessert is probably not something I'll order again due to personal taste.

Great ambience and good service.

Overall no complaints and would be happy to come back for more goulash soup, tea and cakes!!
