since the last review of this attraction, it has been completely rebuilt and replaced with a larger and far more efficient automatic and faster gondola system. state of the art with new base station and a new top station with panoramic restaurant. the panorama walk at the top has also been improved with a number of info points dotted around

The base station is very close to the bus 150 from Salzburg stop, making a day trip from Salzburg a piece of cake. The views are very nice from on top. Note, however, to get the best 360 degree views you still need to walk up a fair number of steps. So, if you are mobility challenged and can't walk up a lot of steps, know that the views will be very good in the direction of St. Gilgen, but views in other directions will not be possible unless you do the additional steps.

Accidental stop here on the way to hallstatt and ended up a highlight of the day. The staff were friendly, prices were modest , no queuing and breath taking views. A must do in Austria.

We spent a couple of hours on Zwolferhorn because we wanted to kick about in the snow and enjoy the spectacular views. We were not disappointed. The cable car is old style but probably better for it with small cabins carrying max 4 people each.
There are several bar/restaurants on the mountain although they were not all open when we visited.
Pick a clear sunny day and you can see for miles.

It was worth every penny. Absolutely stunning panaromamic views. 360 degrees mountain peaks at lakes. Looks amazing in winter.

Great views over the Wolfgangsee and surroundings during the ride and from the top of the mountain.
The cable car is old-fashioned which makes the ride interesting.
However, the entrance to the cable car could be modernized and better maintained.

Zwölferhorn is really a nice summit in the center of the Salzkammergut offering a spectacular view over the pitoresc landscape eith the lakes.
It is a nice ride with the original "vintage" cabins of the cable car.
But the entrance to the cable car (stair-way where you have to wait for your ride) is designed extremly uninviting, shaby and dark.
It would be so easy to pimp it with a new lighting and putting some pictures (e.g. Salzkammergut landscape) for little amount of money.

Its really worth ride a bus from Salzburg to St. Gilgen. Purchased a return ticket cable car for 26€. It took about 20minutes to the top. You may ride a bicycle or just walk to the peak. If you lucky, you may see people do paragliding by themself.

A very busy attraction and parking is limited, even on weekdays. We could only find parking in a dedicated area and it was expensive. The day was wind free and sunny and ideal for a cable car trip up the mountain. It is relatively expensive for a return trip but it is worth it. The cars are quite dated and seem to have been refurbished and in good working condition. The trip up takes a while and goes to the top where one gets a wonderful view of the entire area. One can see the three most prominent lakes in the area in a single vista. The entry and exit into and out of the cars is made simple as it is then detached from the cable.

we went up the mountain in this cable car, it is breathtaking when you get to the top.
It was a smooth ride up and down and only slightly scary, if you have not tried a cable car before.
A little bit expensive but there are refreshments at the top and you can go on different routes walking for short or long distances if you choose.
a very pleasant afternoon spent up here and it was ok for my disability walker, so guess ir would be ok if you have a pushchair too.
There were people going up with families.
there is ample paking space at the top of st. gilgen on the opposite side of the road to the town.
