On cloudy morning we take walk around the lake with our one year old son. It’s a round trip, so it doesn’t really matter which direction sounds start. At a very slow speed and with a lunch break at “Jausenstation Berger” at about half way, near the far end of the lake, it took us 5 hours, but with a normal tempo it can be done in 3 hours. It’s beautiful, calm, has some steep sections but nothing challenging... we were with a small child.

I was told by the hotel that this is the best and closest place near Salzburg to go swimming; they were right! While driving from Salzburg towards the main village (Fuschl) this is the first “beach” you’ll see on your left. The general entrance is 5€/person (2.5€ after 4pm), the parking is free and spacious and the “beach” very clean. The water is crystal clear (and cold) but it’s really refreshing and rewarding. The view is magnificent too. This was the first time I’m swimming in a lake but I’m sure I’ll return.

We walked the Fuschlsee circular walk (Rundweg) on a warm, sunny day and it is beautiful walk with the colour of the water changing all the time depending on light conditions. The path is well sign posted, walking shoes are recommended and families using push chairs will find it difficult to complete the trail. The indicated time to complete the circular walk is 3 hours, but that is without stopping. We stopped multiple times and so made it a nice day out. The Fuschlsee has 3 official swimming area's with facilities located at both ends of the lake and on the south side of the lake. However, there numerous public area's around the lake where you access the lake and go for a refreshing swim. In total the walk is 11 kilometers (about 6-7 miles) and if you are not in a rush this is an excellent day out.

Very nice, beautiful walk around the beautiful Fuschl lake. Easy, accessible for any age. The overall length is about 11 km. In the middle of the road, from the Fuschl castle you can go back by the boat. Near the castle there is a restaurant with very tasty smoked trout.

This is a very enjoyable circuit of a beautiful lake and we'll worth doing as a half day activity. The path is clearly signposted all the way around with a an indicative duration of 3 hours although depending on your level of fitness can be walked in a much shorter time. The path has a good surface and can be walked in light shoes if the weather has been dry, although hiking boots are probably best for the lightly wooded areas. Most of the walk is along flat or gently undulating ground with only a few sections with short slightly steeper ground, so is suitable for children. There are also nice cafes where you can break for refreshments in Fuschl, and on the wàterside near the other end of the lake (ie almost equidistant on the circuit). During most of the walk there are many lovely views of this beautiful lake and the surrounding hills and mountains.

Good firm foot paths around lake Fuschl, theres a smoke house half way round for fresh smoked fish and refreshments.
Steep in some places but well worth it.

This is a fairly easy walk you can do with kids around the beautiful lake fuschl. We started at the schloss fuschl hotel where we stayed and ended up having coffee and cake at a lovely cafe mid-walk.

I went swimming in Lake Fuschl on a hot August day. The fresh water is clean and warm (21C). The lake is relatively shallow. Parking can be difficult on busy weekends. There is public parking (Euro 3) but it does fill up. Just (North) past the Seehotel schlick toward the Hotel Fuschl is a great little public beach. No charges, sand and not too many people.

Such a lovely walk. The left side of the lake if you are going up from Fuschl is the prettiest and nearest the lake and also shorter! It makes a nice walk to take the boat back from the Fishery. The whole walk is superb. A bit steeper and some tree roots along the other side and not as pretty but some lovely wild flower meadows, fish in the stream and well worth doing.

This is walk 30 on the map given to us in the Hotel Seerose. The distance is 11k and the walk takes about 3 hours if you don’t take a stop. There are coffee/lunch stops on the second half of the walk if you are walking anti-clockwise and there are many small beaches for swimming. The walk is moderately challenging because of the uneven ground and there are some areas of incline. I thoroughly recommend this walk because of the changing scenery.
