The Von Trapp wedding interior church in the film, with its flamboyant altar. If you have friends and family who are also fans of the film and who happen to be Catholics, there are little bottles of Holy Water available for a modest donation - great "different" souvenirs they would appreciate!

Given that it is a location for one of the scenes of the famous movie - Sound of Music - the drama adds to the mystery and mystique of this beautiful Church. Though not as outstanding as other churches, it definitely has its own charm - esp.. with the railing that leads up to the altar.

We visited this sleepy beautiful town from Salzburg. It was truly a town straight as if from fairy tale. Old small colorful buildings, small shops, narrow roads, lush green around and most importantly azure green Montsee lake, all these make the place simply awesome. There is a small but beautifully constructed Catholic Church where the wedding scene of the legendary... More

We did this trip to take a look at the church in Sound of Musics wedding scene. I really understand why they chose this Church, it is really beutifull. But there where so much altars and so on inside that me and my family really reflected over how the Church has sucked out all the wealth of a land and... More

This was part of our Sound of Music tour and well worth the stop to see the church used in the film, Sound of Music. The town, Mondsee, was also nice to see a town by the lake areas near Salzburg.

Not the best church we have seen in the region. The church is dedicated to St Michael. Few steps from the main road to the centre.

What a beautiful church. Great to see where Maria married Captain Von Trapp (in the film). It's definitely worth popping in when yo're here, then popping over the road for some apple strudel afterwards.

The basilica is incredibly striking and quite breathtaking inside. Never have I seen so much decoration and gold leaf in a church - quite a sight. I had no idea this church had been used in TSOM, but you can see from the little shop that you enter, that thisis the case. The shop, actually, has a nice balance between... More

Very beautiful place to visit, no matter what your own perspective for religious matters is. It is located in a middle of walk-only boulevard in the middle of Mondsee, There is also a very nice small shop selling all kinds of stuff, mostly with religious motifs of course but other stuff as well. If you're around, you'd be a fool... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit to Mondsee with our terrific guide Amelie Horing. Amelie did an amazing job describing the basilica and the history, and it's recent and beautiful renovation.
