Two weeks of Spanish lessons
Sep 2019
Dania is a competent and friendly teacher; she tailors the curriculum to your needs, and is a joy to have as an instructor! I highly recommend Buena Vida for anyone wanting to experience Spanish language learning outside of Panama City; Pedasi is a lovely village, with miles of nearly deserted beach only 3 km from town. While she has moved her school from the city center to her home just outside of town, it's an easy walk or fast drive to get there. I took 2 weeks of private tutoring, consisting of about 4 hour daily classes, and she gives homework to complement the oral work in class. In addition, Dania is very helpful in providing travel information to Pedasi, so getting there was straightforward; I took the bus, and she met me at the bus terminal to help me get situated.

My wife and I really enjoyed our classes with Dania during September 2017. Her personal instruction and method of delivery helped us to learn Spanish and gain a better understanding of the Panamanian culture. We learned more about life in Pedasi, the food and customs of the local Pedesinos. We spent a month in Pedasi and during that time, we appreciated the warmth and welcome that Pedasi offers visitors. We strongly recommend Dania and Buena Vida Language School for anyone visiting Pedasi and who wishes to learn Spanish and immerse in Panamanian culture.

Well, all of the previous 5 star reviews are well deserved!

Dania, the owner and primary instructor, is a smart, friendly, enthusiastic, and adaptable teacher. I travelled to this faraway corner of Panama for a week of total Spanish language immersion. It was well worth the travel. According to Dania the school has recently moved closer to the town center and the present facilities are quite comfortable.
I had studied Spanish in Guatemala and Mexico ten years ago, and reached "beginners" level. In the time since, my limited proficiency had diminished alarmingly and my confidence in conducting conversation had disappeared entirely. I sought out the school based on the reviews here on TripAdvisor.
Dania suggested my five days should be 3 hours per, rather than 4 hours. I now agree that the extra hour would have been too much non-stop conversation for me. On the first day she quickly assessed my level of proficiency, and in the days that followed she followed up with conversation mixed with grammar and vocabulary perfectly suited to my level of interest and capability. The assignments she made each day were also perfect to match my ability and provide room to learn from my mistakes as well.
At my request Dania arranged for a home stay to complete my total immersion. The family I stayed with were very nice and encouraged my conversation with them, and I never felt expected to go further than I was willing (or able) to talk with them. I was glad to have the experience.
I expect to return for another week, or more, in the coming months.

Lovely school, great teacher

I studied here for three weeks, private classes, 3 hours a day with Dania. Dania bought the school recently from the previous owner, Ingrid. Dania is very caring, and conscientious and a great teacher. Dania went beyond being a teacher, and helped me when I fell by picking me up from the doctor. She gave me continual advise for many things, and basically worked really hard to make sure my trip, and my classes went well for me. She also arranged a homestay which worked out well. I am a middle aged woman traveling alone, and I felt extremely safe and welcomed in Pedasi. Additionally, most people in Pedasi do not feel comfortable speaking English, so it is a great place to come to learn and practice Spanish, especially compared to Bocas (I visited there, and it is full of tourists and gringos - not a great place to learn Spanish). The town is nice and clean, close to several beaches and the people were lovely. I really enjoyed my time here!

Pedasi, A must go!!!
Aug 2016 • Solo
The Buena Vida Language School is a must go if you want to grow your spanish language as well as experience Panamanian culture. Dania and Mitzy are amazing teachers whose patience, humor, and dedication make learning fun and easy. I chose the homestay, which I recommend to all students who want to enrich their stay in Pedasi.

Buena Vida is a great school with loving teachers!

Don't miss this opportunity!

Any visitor to Pedasi needs to take advantage of this great resource. We were in Pedasi for four months last winter. The classes were so well organized and tailored to my level that I never felt lost or overwhelmed. It was so exciting that Spanish was finally making sense, poco a poco, as Dania said. In addition, she always started her sessions with preguntas, and especially in the beginning, I came with lots of them every day. So the classes not only helped with the language, they helped me understand the people and culture of Panama.

Dania and Mitzi will be the key to making your time in Pedasi wonderful. And believe me, you will never dread going to class! Don't pass up this opportunity to improve your language skills and get to know The real Panama at the same time.

Great school!!
May 2016 • Solo
The School itself is really nice - with hammocks, places to work a nice sofa, free tea or coffee, air-con and internet. Dania and my teacher Mitzy are so lovely they make you feel so comfortable when you come - they always engage in conversation and are willing to help you with anything you need. I got a lot of practice in my classes. The home-stay was well organised and the people that I was staying with were also really welcoming I felt really relaxed in both the school and the home-stay. Overall I have to give the experience 10/10. Thank you so much Dani and Mitzy I really enjoyed my time here with you both!
