This was a workout to say the least. We traveled the 3.9 mile loop counter clock-wise, if it is a real hot day I'd recommend going clock-wise. That way as it heats up you'll be more need the creek, falls, and rocks to keep you...More

One of my top 5 US hikes! We loved this hike for the variety and scenery but agreed that counter clockwise would have been anticlimatic. Climbing up the big rocks is much more enjoyable especially in the wet and a great ending to the hike....More

This is a great, relatively short hike in Custer State Park. There is opportunity for a little bit of climbing, many photo ops, and great scenery. The walk around the lake is a nice way to complete the hike.

Time constraints forced us to take an abbreviated tour but hearing others we should have done the entire loop. Next time we will do it all.

Super dun. It's 4miles but it's relatively easy to hike. Lots of rocks to climb so bring lots of water. Overall my favorite hike.

My wife and I have hiked all over the United States and Canada and we've never seen a hike quite like this. It's only 3.8 miles - including the Sylvan Lake loop portion, but it is a wild trek. I definitely recommend going clockwise, starting...More

I am glad I went counter clockwise. We started going down rocks with water flowing around but they had railings to help. If I had to climb those rocks at the end of that trail I would have died. This hike was a workout, however...More

Took my five boys (5-13) on this trail. They loved it! This trail is a definite must do. We took the trail going counter clock wise. You will get wet and I don’t see how it could be avoided. If you don’t want to get...More
