MOST AMAZING ROAD TO TRAVEL

Just can't word properly the beauty of this roadway. Every hair pin turn brings about a wondrous site, not to mention views of Mt Rushmore.

Sightseeing must be left up to the passengers on this road. Attention to the speeds posted is a must as there are several switchbacks and u curves that make the drive a challenge. Bikers love to take this road, but if you are driving a RV it will diffidently provide a challenge and there are three tunnels that are very restrictive.... More

I was glad that I didn't have to drive these roads I was so glad I had my camera. Breathtaking views. Well worth taking the ride.

Very twisted and long. Very scenic. A must do. Take drinks and snacks in case I need them. Several single lane tunnels which are precarious at times. Enjoy!!

This road is amazing!! Thank you Peter Norbeck. I love to ride this road on motorcycle, the smells and sites are wonderful. I have ridden this road many times and do not get tired of it. Watch for the view of Mount Rushmore when you approach the tunnels.

All three drives through Custer are beautiful and offer very different scenery. The tunnels of Iron Mountain Road frame amazing views of Mount Rushmore. If you time, take this drive. For those who have limited time and who will visit the Mount Rushmore monument, I would skip this drive in favor of Needles Rd and Wildlife Loop.

We drove this scenic road on the way from Badlands to Custer State Park. The route is beautiful but does have hairpin turns and one lane tunnels. We couldn't figure out why people were stopping and taking pictures at the tunnels. Then we realized that if you were driving the opposite way than we were you got a beautiful view... More

Loved it! The road is narrow and people still drive like madmen but very lovely drive. Careful through the tunnels and stop often to takes lots of pics.

We have ridden Iron Mountain Road several times on the back of a motorcycle. It is one of the highlights of our trip to South Dakota. We have ridden it forward and backward, in the sunshine and in the rain. Each time I want to throw my hands in the air like on a roller coaster, but that would not... More

I liked the needles highway a little better, but I'd recommend them both. Lots of hiking opportunities and some cool drive through tunnels
