Take the Hike around the lake!

Such a neat little lake with great natural landscaping. We hiked around the lake, only 1.2 miles. Great little hike! Awesome scenery. Should have gone swimming.

You must experience all there is in the Black Hills. This lake is an example of beautiful nature and worth the trip.

The kids loved jumping in the cold water after our hike. Lots of people swimming, hiking, canoeing, etc. near a camp ground...so not a quiet area.

Lovely, beautiful. We rented a paddle boat. Good exercise and a great way to see the lake. Nice hike around the lake also. It's a good hike in parts. Rocky and steep. My 9 yo and I enjoyed it very much. Nice store near the lake also but a bite to eat and gifts.

This lake is a gem. You can kayak, paddle board, fish, rock climb, or just hang out and enjoy the scenery. My recommendation is to hike the mile (easy) trail around the lake. There are more difficult trails as well depending on your ambition level.

The shore is actually kind of gross because the geese poop everywhere, but the lake and hike around it are beautiful and well worth the visit

I had read up on Sylvan Lake, but we had no idea how absolutely picturesque it is. We took our own lunch and had a picnic. The park was pretty busy and I understand why - it's amazing. Take the path that leads you all along the lake and see the lake that was shown in the movie National Treasure!... More

Very pretty setting. Easy trail around the lake is very interesting especially the part that seems to be cut through the rock. Lots of parking even for us in a 30 foot motorhome

We were just on our way to the Needles area, and we saw Sylvan Lake. Wow! It is like a living postcard, it's so beautiful. Many young hikers, canoers, etc were disembarking from cars and buses when we were there. They were ready for a big hike. We didn't have time to explore, but next time we're in the area... More

Stopped by here with limited time (about 30 minutes) and wished we had more time to come back later. There's a hiking trail that goes around the lake which we did about a quarter of. It's just a beautiful setting. There's a place to rent water craft with plenty of people out on the lake. Would've love to have joined... More
