We stayed here for a week. The lake was closed due to high bacteria the whole time we were there. The lake was beautiful, but we could never use it. There is a small store and we stayed at the camp ground (which is not...More

After walking around the path and climbing on the rocks we sure enjoyed sitting by the lake in the shade. It is truly beautiful and very relaxing.

We were on a tour that took us by the lake. We didn't have time to get out and explore but would have lived to. It is an awesome setting with lots of different views for picture taking!!

We wanted a scenic spot with some hiking and we found it at Sylvan Lake. Unlike the rest of the area (the Rushmore area in general), Sylvan was quaint, quiet and relaxing.

This is gorgeous to view from the side of the road, but even more fun to park and experience! We decided to go to the beach the day after we drove by this gem. We parked and headed clockwise toward the beach across the way....More

Beautiful lake, picnicking, swimming hiking . Hike to the highest point in South Dakota and spend 4 days recovering like we did. Beautiful scenery along a strenuous 7 mile loop. Not for old novice overweight persons.

A recreational gem off the beaten path in the Black Hills. Beautiful rock sculptures adorn the lake, an eatery is nearby if you don't pack a lunch. Family friendly area with clean bathrooms!

If you have time to stop and enjoy this lake you won't be sorry. We really love stopping here to enjoy just sitting by the water and watching others out on the water.

We drove the needles highway and spent a few hours at this lake. We brought food for a picnic, walked around the lake and rented kayaks. We all loved the kayaking (including our 6 and 8 year old) and had a wonderful time.

The campground we checked out did. I would recommend the stockade campgrounds or coolage campground for ease to maneuver an rv.

It was very cold first week of June. No one was swimming. People were using boats and such but it would be too cold to get in.
