The area
Address
Neighborhood: Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

Opening night 2021
Nov 2021
It's been a minute since most people have gone to the theater and while in New Orleans, my bf and I decided we'd check out the Louisiana Philharmonic on their opening night at the Orpheum. Our tickets were the "cheap" seats in the balcony but we had a central view and the acoustics were good. They checked our vaccination status on the way in and encouraged everyone to wear a mask. The masking was not strictly enforced, unfortunately. I did find that they had women's restrooms on every floor, which was nice but getting to the bar on the first floor was a pain. We did find a bar on the second floor. the drinks were expensive and they didn't sell any food. The other LA Phil as I'd like to call them, was great. They did not get rid of any musicians during the pandemic and were happy to play again in a theater with a live audience. It's a wonderful thing to support the arts, even when one is traveling. This theater experience was a lovely one.

Beautiful

I went to a reception there and the atmosphere is simply lovely. It is beautiful and opulent. It has a neat history of being a speak easy and has a cellar I did not get to see.

Cinderella got the Prince
May 2019 • Friends
5-25-19@2p almost the same day and almost the same time I graduated HS 34 yrs ago, and I'm at this theatre watching Cinderella. My BFF asked if we wanted to attend while we were in NOLA and me and her daughter and my daughter and my sister in law went. I had to wait outside for my daughter because she was 15 min behind(luckily so was the ballet). I watched all these adults bring their children in dressed up and excited. I sent my daughter to the wrong theatre and she had to pay the uber twice(she blamed me the whole day and asked me to pay one fare), When we entered finally the lady asked if we wanted to sit closer but we told her we were with others, after climbing to the very top WW I wished I would have said yes. Personally I didn't care for the ballet-though it had some good dancing. I wanted someone to talk(seriously I did). They had an intermission on this 2hour ballet and the costumes were good. The 2 step sisters(played by 2 men) were funny acting and I followed along, though I was looking for more. Everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves and my daughter who decided the night before she didn't want to go enjoyed it the most. For $49 bucks I expected to be bedazzled. I'm sure the kids were... The theatre was clean and seemed to be holding up! There were plenty restrooms on each level(3). they had popcorn, drinks, etc

Spectacular venue

Went to a concert here last evening...absolutely amazing venue. Beautifully restored, great acoustics, nice bar, easy walk from the French Quarter. We were in the balcony & felt like we had the best seats in the house. Would love to come here again.

Concert

Saw the Glenn Miller Band at the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans. The theater is in great shape with spotless marble tile floors, gold and sky blue trim that looks solid (not overly glitzy), and not a bad seat in the house. The classic New Orleans downtown/French quarter exterior and wonderful acoustics and intimate and glamorous setting make this a perfect venue. But don’t be fooled, with three levels and wrap around balconies this venue can pack a decent crowd. You just won’t feel it while you take in the show.

Beautiful theatre
Jun 2018 • Business
We visited this theatre for an evening reception sponsored by a company from our professional conference. The theatre has been beautifully restored, and has a grand appearance and atmosphere. A live band offered music, and the acoustics seemed good. I would love to see a play or musical performance hear sometime.

Amazing Old Theater
Jun 2018 • Solo
I came here for their summer film series. Couldn't pass up the chance to see a movie in an old school theater like this. Unfortunately the balconies were closed but it was still a pretty awesome experience. I guess this is part of a big restoration project and they really did a great job there. Wish more cities would restore and reopen their historic haters as opposed to just tearing them down. Best part of the summer film series is it's free. They have a bar for drinks and small selection of snacks at typical prices. Would love to return.

Lovely Theater Beautifully Restored
Apr 2018 • Couples
This theater is a gem. The intricate moldings and carvings are beautiful and there is not a bad seat in the house. The only drawback was as a tall person the seats were much too close together making it a long evening.
