Coming across official tours of Metairie Cemetery isn’t easy—the cemetery only a single company to operate within its walls, but a guided tour is the best way to learn about the cemetery’s rich history and famous inhabitants. Beginning with pickup from downtown New Orleans, head out to the cemetery to visit prominent grave sites and learn about the city’s fascinating Civil War history.

There is a shop, James Cohen and Sons, on Royal street where you meet the guide. He is usually waiting out front. It has civil war memorabilia and is pretty easy to find.
