We spent a week on a riverboat cruise from New Orleans to Memphis. The Battle of Baton Rouge was among the best excursions we took. The guide was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He really brought the battle to life. We learned so much from him.

This was by far the most interesting and engaging tour I had in New Orleans. Nick was incredibly knowledgeable and articulate, and his tour was perfect for both newbies and Civil War aficionados alike. This tour painted the picture of both antebellum and Civil War-era New Orleans, and was a great contextual primer for political, economic, military, and even cocktail history!

I will confess that I do not have a particular passion for learning about the Civil War. However, my husband does, and so I agreed to take this tour to make him happy. To my pleasant surprise, I found myself quite interested in what Nick had to say, because his emphasis was on the political and economic factors that influenced certain aspects and outcomes of the Civil War. If you are a Civil War enthusiast, you will LOVE this tour! Caution: The amount of detail can be overwhelming, so make sure you get enough sleep the night before so you will be able to give Nick your full attention - he has a lot of information to offer!

Nic is an awesome storyteller and has obviously done his research on the topic. My favorite part was he wasn't just regurgitating history, he was telling life like it was in the Civil War era, along with his theories and spin on it. Nic was extremely passionate about the subject, and also included some unrelated facts along the way.

My husband and I took the Metairie Cemetery tour with Nick and we were absolutely blown away! We both are very into history and have visited New Orleans quite a few times so we booked this tour because it was something we hadn't done yet. We were both blown away by the amount of connections that New Orleans has to the Civil War! My husband I both like to think we know a bit more than the average about history but there were so many facts pertaining to New Orleans that we had no idea about! Nick was so knowledgeable on the topic, you can definitely tell he has a love for it and we had such a great morning with him exploring the cemetery. When we're back in NOLA we definitely are going to look into taking the walking tour of the French Quarter with him as well! We definitely would suggest this tour to anyone, not only because you'll walk away learning alot but also because it's a great way to get out of the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter while doing it!

We were lucky that Nic gave the three of us a private tour. As something of a Civil War buff myself, I really enjoyed learning about New Orleans’ role in the conflict. I am always happy to learn something new and Nic knows his stuff! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in history and/or the story of New Orleans.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Set in the “French Quarter” our tour guide Nic covered a lot of information with a great narrative storyline set along the back drop of the Civil War. Highly recommend for both casual and serious students of history!

Nic has a wealth of fascinating information on the Civil War in New Orleans! We learned that 40% of the population were foreigners, here to work and make fortunes. Incredible to hear that the Union navy surprised the unsuspecting Confederates by heading up the river with warships, and why New Orleans never burned like so many southern cities.
Unusual and memorable tour!
