The area

Address
Neighborhood: Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

Before arriving in town I booked a massage for my husband and me (same time, not same room). I chose Nola Bliss based on reviews. The female I spoke with on the phone was super friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and environment conducive to a relaxing massage. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of my masseuse but the massage I received was disappointing. We discussed the type and preferred pressure at the start so I felt confident we agreed on the plan for the next 90 minutes. She rarely used both hands at the same time. The pressure was inconsistent. In the beginning I did ask for more pressure but within minutes it was back to super light. The time spent within each section of the massage was inconsistent. I've had many, many massages in my lifetime and this is the first time I've ever felt bored while having one performed. The only way I can describe it is to say it felt lazy. Having said this, I do think the masseuse has potential as long as someone can give her honest and constructive feedback. My husband had Kennedy as his massuese and said she was awesome....possibly the best he's ever had!

I've visited here a few times, and the services were good. Today, on April 10, 2024, there's severely bad weather. It's so bad that late last night, my kids' school sent a notice stating that school will be closed today. I arranged for someone to watch my kids under the assumption they could work remotely, but then our lights went out. All circumstances beyond our control. I called and spoke to a gentleman who claimed to be the owner. He showed no remorse for my situation and offered no resolution. While I understand policies, this situation was completely out of my control. As we spoke, he charged my card an hour before the scheduled services. That was even more upsetting.

Moral of the story:
If you have kids, and God forbid their school gives you late notice about closing before you have an appointment scheduled with Bliss, they won't care or even offer a solution before taking your money. The owner will simply tell you there's nothing he can do, in an underwhelming tone.

My wife and I had a couple’s massage here with Elaine and Olivia. They were both terrific, the atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming, and we left with our knots reduced to jelly.

My wife asserts that Olivia’s work was the best massage she has ever had. She is quite discerning about the correct pressure so this was great news. We have booked our follow up just two days after our last treatment.

Came in for a couples massage on a Sunday afternoon. I booked the appointment on Thursday online and was able to get in without a problem. I got multiple reminders via text and email. We arrived at the door which has a large sign out front, so it's easy to find. We called upstairs and they let us in after confirming our appointment. A bit of a hassle, but it made me feel really safe. We walked in and met our masseuses before filling out paperwork and having the usual conversations. The room is warm, comfortable, and smells great. The heated tables were lovely and the white noise machines were great too. They have a bathroom and offered us drinks, but there aren't private bathrooms or changing rooms. They do their best to try to drown out the sirens and chatter on Lafayette street, which is not an easy feat, but we were still very relaxed. We both had a great massage. Our masseuses were very attentive to our goals and focused on the areas that were sore. We left feeling very relaxed. Easy to make an appointment, comfortable room, and attentive masseuses!

We are vacationers that booked a couples massage with hot stones and this was the best experience we had in NOLA. Elaine and Andrea were top-notch in their skills in relaxing us and working out some serious tension. The atmosphere was inviting and had very safe health practices in place. We would highly recommend Nola Bliss. Thank you to Elaine and Andrea for taking such good care of us!

It was a nice massage! And a great experience. The room smelt great and super relaxing! Our backs felt amazing after leaving! My only problem was, if I’m going to spend $300 with tip included. I would have like to have had the full 60 minute massage. We arrived at 1pm for the massage. I had to use the restroom, and then fill out paper work. They grabbed us each a glass of water, we talked to the ladies about what we wanted, and then were given a few minutes to get undressed and lay in the bed. Which is totally normal at any massage place. When we were told to relax and take a minute to get up once it ended, I probably took about 4 minutes haha. Well when I check my phone it was 2:02. And that’s just crazy to me because we got there at 1 and had to do all these other things which definitely took about 15 minutes or more... but other than that. It was a nice, relaxing place, and the Himalayan rocks are the bomb!!!

We were super last minute honeymooning and neeeeded a massage. The super-sweet bearded guy (I think I heard is the owner's husband. I'm so sorry for not remember your name!), went way above and beyond to make sure he squeezed us in. Kennedy and Eric didn't just help us relax, but they both had to deal with our long term injuries. On top of that, they humored me as I rambled on about our Weird Al themed wedding, along many other things. I don't think any other massage could ever beat this one. HIGHLY recommend them.

Way over priced for the quality of the massage. Received a hot stone massage and repeated to ask for deeper massage. It was last for 30 seconds and go back to the feeling of just having hands going over your skin. Stones on my legs were the best part. Table and particularly the headrest were uncomfortable. $175 for 90 minutes and would have gone anywhere else. They try to be an upscale place but is in a rundown building.

This review is a clear case of retaliation by the client because we reported his domestic abuse to the Oakland County Sherriff’s Office and his employer. This couple had clearly been fighting when they arrived, and once in the treatment room continued to argue so loudly that they could be heard in the waiting room and hallway. Their massage was then delayed for 15 minutes because the wife had left the treatment room to make a phone call from our 1st floor foyer. When she returned, our therapists reported that the mood between the couple was so charged and the demeanor of the reviewer so menacing that they believed the wife was the victim of domestic abuse. One of the therapists reported her concern to our manager and after careful consideration, they decided the massage should continue on the basis that it would probably make things worse for the wife if we refused service. Certainly, we would not have allowed any of our therapists to be alone with this man. The massage proceeded largely without incident, after which the wife expressed total satisfaction and tipped generously when she paid for both her and the reviewer. Our therapists were left unnerved by the experience and requested never to work with the reviewer again. In subsequent phone conversations and email correspondence the wife admitted the abusive nature of her relationship to us but felt unable to leave because of her young family. We remain extremely concerned for her safety and suggest this review be dismissed as the rant of an angry, abusive man.

I was in town from Seattle with my daughter and we wee given a massage for a gift so I chose this place after reading reviews myself. I have to say I wasn't expecting it to be as wonderful as an experience.
I had Ahmad and I have had many massages being that I am a hairstylist and hold tons of tension In my upper body. This is TOP NOTCH massage. He seemed to know every spot and pressure to apply without me saying a word. Too bad he isn't in Seattle. HIGHLY recommend!!!

I tend to carry a LOT of tension in my back and shoulders and the effectiveness of deep tissue massages varies from therapist to therapist. After reading more on it, I decided to give Ashiatsu a try. Let me say it was my first but will not be my last! My therapist Laura welcomed me, discussed why I was there/problem areas and got right into the massage. I'm still trying to find words to describe it! By the time I was finished, I nearly had to roll off the table I was so loose! If you're curious, give it a try, Laura is fantastic and it's super easy to book online! Get there fast!
