This tour offered a variety of food selections that showcased the different cuisines in New Orleans. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to experience a unique and unforgettable dining experience at upscale restaurants in the French Quarter. You will definitely NOT walk away from this tour hungry, the selections are not only tasty, but satisfying as well. Our friendly guide, Alexandra, was very knowledgeable about the various culinary styles, restaurant histories and the chefs that helped make New Orleans the foodie mecca it is today.

We had a great time with our guide, Roger who explained the history of New Orleans in addition to the meals we tried out during our private VIP tour. Everything from the booking process to the food itself was seamless and perfect. We were lucky to have Mr. Greggory conduct our shrimp boil and it was so delicious! I highly recommend booking with this company, very professional and we were all very satisfied with the food and service. Thank you!

Great macabre historical tour! Our guide, Roger, was awesome. He was extremely knowledgeable and engaging without being a stereotypical, over the top tour guide. The group was small so it was a more “intimate” tour. Not too bad of a walk and you will be standing for at least an hour. Absolutely recommend if you like factual and macabre stories told by someone who knows the city like the back of his hand. I would definitely do another tour with this company!

You're right, we purposely limit our tours to smaller groups for that very reason! We find that we're able to interact with our guests more and really get to know them. And in turn, you are able to hear us clearly and ask as many questions as you want, which allows for a more dynamic experience for you as well! We'll be here for you the next time you visit. ;) -Brittawnée

My adult daughter and I joined New Orleans Secrets on October 4, 2019 for their Mysteries of Voodoo Tour. We had been in New Orleans for five days packed with tours, as I was on a research trip. We decided to squeeze in one more tour before our afternoon flight and we were so glad we did! We were pleasantly surprised to discover we were the only two who booked the tour and fortunately, we were still able to go because the tour had a minimum of two people. James Corbyn was our guide and when he learned I was researching for a novel he asked a few questions to gauge my knowledge. He stated I already knew more than the basics we would have learned on the tour and if we were up for it, he could delve a bit deeper for us. We happily agreed and James took us on the most memorable tour of our trip! He introduced us to many locals; he answered my endless questions and offered personal insight to the many legends of New Orleans. Our tour went a bit over the allotted time and only ended when it did because we needed to eat and catch our flight. At some point during our tour my daughter mentioned wanting pasta so James recommended a restaurant and gave us detailed directions. James even gave me his business card with his email address and offered to continue to be a resource once I got home. James was fantastic and very knowledgeable. I would and have recommended this tour to anyone traveling to New Orleans.

Reflecting on our experience, this tour was just okay. The meeting location was very easy to get to (an $11 Uber ride from Canal Street, each way). We arrived 15 minutes early and waited outside the establishment for our tour guide---many other guests arrived and waited outside with us. At 3pm, Rodger emerges from the restaurant to check us in and we come to find that many guests are already seated. The communication could have been much better. It took awhile and lots of questions for Rodger to finally warm up and tell us about the food we were eating. He spent alot of time playing bartender, and just disappearing for long periods of time. At one point, our group joked if he was hosting two tours simultaneously. This made the tour feel slow and like it was dragging.

I will say, the food was delicious and the portions were huge. You will definitely not leave this tour feeling hungry. It was our first time in New Orleans and were able to discover many of these restaurants via the food channel and actually ate at a few in the prior days.

Overall, it's a hit or miss, but I enjoyed other New Orleans Food Tours much better.

Thank you for the thoughtful review. We're sorry that you felt it was just ok—we strive for excellent! But this was one of those situational days where a few things didn't go per the norm. For example, the meeting place you mentioned. In all correspondences about the starting location, it states that guests should meet outside of the first restaurant, which you did. Turns out a few guests arrived extra, extra early and had gone inside to wait. Roger arrived and went inside to prepare the table and was alerted by staff that the first group was there, so he took an extra moment to greet and seat them before returning outside at the tour starting time to meet the rest of the guests. Under normal circumstances, everyone would have met outside, just where you were, and everyone would have been checked in and seated together. It was also a very busy Saturday, and there were some behind-the-scenes things happening that your guide was diligently taking care of without spoiling your experience. As a guide for this tour myself, I can assure you that we are often performing like a graceful duck: elegant above water and frantic below! :-) Regardless, we're sorry that you didn't have our normal stellar experience from top to bottom, but we're glad you got to enjoy some delicious food in our beautiful Garden District area. - Mark

It was my first time in New Orleans and I typically book a tour or two to get a better idea of the city my husband and I are in. After doing some research, New Orleans Secrets seemed to be the best choice and I'm so glad we picked correctly.

I booked 2 tours the week after Mardi Gras, Magazine Street food tour and a Voodoo tour. Roger ran the food tour and it was a nice small group (just 4 people). We hit up some amazing, delicious spots on Magazine Street, places my husband and I wouldn't necessarily hit up. Roger was so patient with all of our questions and explained things in an easy to learn manner. It was also nice to see him say hello to people along the route, which made his recommendations even more valuable. I also loved the fact you get a break toward the end and can hop into the Terrance Osborne Gallery to view his works. Very beautiful pieces and a nice highlight was getting to meet the artist himself on our way back from the last restaurant. Highly recommend the Magazine Street food tour.

Our Voodoo tour was with Anna and we basically got a nice, private tour. She has strong academic credentials, so her approach to the tour was professorial combined with interesting life experiences. Her informative tour provided my husband and I with a much better idea of what voodoo is and what it is not. Given how ingrained it is in New Orleans culture, definitely take this tour if you're interested.

Hoping to come back to New Orleans soon and when we do, we'll definitely book more tours with New Orleans Secrets. Their tour guides are very professional and the groups are so small!

We went on a tour with Roger, we HIGHLY recommend!! He was very knowledgeable, and he not only told us the stories that many other tour groups may offer, but gave us some insider information about locations, histories, and the city in general. Of course, having the smaller group meant he didn't need to yell at us, but we were still able to hear the fun stories. The walk was not too long, and I do wish we could have heard a few more stories, but I was extremely satisfied and would recommend this experience to anyone, especially if you can tour with Roger!

Well we ARE called New Orleans Secrets for a reason...we give you the inside scoop! You hit the nail right on the head too; smaller groups mean we don't need to yell at you to be heard and there's more freedom for us to customize the tour to your interests and answer all of your questions as well. And I always take it as a good sign when the guests don't want the tour to end. ;) Thanks for the review! -Brittawnée

We took the Ghosts of the French Quarter tour with Ty. They limit the size of their tours (we had 9 in our tour). Ty was great, had loads of information, was entertaining, and kept us interested and asking questions. She waited to talk to us until we were all facing her and in a close group. It was easy to hear her. (In comparison as we walked on our tour, we saw some ghost tours with about 30 people and the guide talking as she walked down the sidewalk. Only the first 4 people could hear her!) Ty was careful to allow space for others to get by on the sidewalk and keep us out of the streets. No theatrics here. No one in costume, or people jumping out at you. 5 stars for Ty, this tour, and the company.

The magazine street foodie tour was the highlight of our New Orleans trip. The food choices were all great and pretty big portions for food tour standards. We were stuffed and ready for a nap after our tour. Mark was a fantastic tour guide, not only explaining the food we were getting but gave us some New Orleans history and other food and drink recommendations around the city. Highly recommend doing this tour early on in your trip as you’ll get recommendations for other great food places

Such good advice to take the tour early on in your trip as we LOVE to give recommendations! There are no shortage of good places to eat and drink in New Orleans, but many of our faves are off the "eaten" path, just like the restaurants we selected for this tour. Thank you for the thoughtful review! -Brittawnée

Superior food tour!! Our tour guide, Roger, was charismatic, professional and very knowledgeable about the local area and cuisine. He thoroughly explained the history about the area, how each restaurant got started and where it is now, and anything and everything you wanted to know about the food we ate and any other local cuisine. His recommendations to continue trying more dishes and sightsee were also impressive. I highly recommend this tour....well worth the money!!
