Over the years, I’ve taken several tours with Haunted History Tours of New Orleans, and each time I've walked away with an unforgettable experience. The combination of adventure, intriguing locations, and historically accurate stories delivered by enthusiastic, masterful storytellers always leaves me wanting more.

On my latest trip, I booked the "Dead of Night – New Orleans Ghosts & Cemetery Nighttime Bus Tour" at 7:30 pm. Unfortunately, two-thirds of the guests were already highly inebriated when they boarded, making the experience far less enjoyable due to their rude and disruptive behavior. It was disappointing because the tour guide was fantastic, even in such challenging circumstances, and I could tell the tour had all the makings of something great.

Thankfully, after the tour ended, Haunted History Tours accommodated my request to join the next tour at 9:30 pm, and I’m so grateful they did. Within the first ten minutes of the second tour, I knew I had made the right choice.

Our guide, Drew, was nothing short of phenomenal. His deep knowledge of New Orleans’ rich history, paired with his one-of-a-kind storytelling, elevated the entire experience. Drew’s passion for the city was palpable; his dramatic flair and theater-quality presentation made each story come to life in a way that few could replicate.

Additionally, our driver, Israel, was warm, welcoming, and highly professional, ensuring that the entire experience ran smoothly from start to finish.

Despite the initial hiccup, Haunted History Tours delivered yet again. On my next visit, I will absolutely be hoping to tour with Drew once more—he is hands down the best guide I’ve had the pleasure of learning from.

Also, a special shout-out to Scarlett at The Rampart Treehouse! Meeting her before and after the tour added an extra layer of enjoyment. Her vast knowledge of the city, combined with her sage advice and welcoming personality, was the perfect complement to the evening.

Final Thoughts: Even with unexpected challenges, Haunted History Tours remains my go-to for an authentic and captivating New Orleans adventure. The team's professionalism, paired with Drew’s unmatched storytelling, ensured the night ended on a high note.

Our guide Christian truly made the tour exceptional. He was both humorous and informative, providing valuable insights throughout. I also appreciated the comfort of the air-conditioned bus, especially in August. The driver was fantastic as well. I gained a lot of knowledge from this tour and, as a travel agent, I'll definitely recommend it to my clients or anyone visiting New Orleans, whether before or after a cruise.

Ariadne is a great storyteller. I was so excited to take a tour with her after hearing about her from a friend. Ariadne used humor and a deep knowledge of each of the stories to draw in our group and hold our attention. I'm quite ashamed that it took me so long to ever go on a tour, but perhaps I was just waiting for the perfect guide and friends to go with.

If you find yourself thinking that touring and having dinner in a historic haunted mansion sounds like a great way to spend an evening in New Orleans, you would be right....but don't book this one. First, you do not get a tour of the home, you are shown into only one room and not much is historic or original to what you do see. Second, the "show" is a total cheese fest that lacks any reference to the house's original history, the stories sound made-up and jump around with little context. The decor is beyond cheesy and pulls you immediately away from the mindset or imagination of what could be a magnificent place with history and spooky vibes.
I did however give this 2 stars instead of one because the food was delicious. The only suspect thing we ate was the shrimp remoulade salad but the soup and entrées were great. The other reason, and my main issue for the low review is the astronomical cost of this evening. For two people it was well over $200 just for the dinner and then you have drinks (optional) and gratuity to pay on top of that. I was extremely disappointed in the experience for the amount of money we had to pay. If the experience were closer to $45 a person, it would have been more in synch with what they were offering.
Kitsy runs the operation and is truly fantastic and kind which was why I was hesitant to write this post. I appreciate that it's a small business trying to make it's way, but the quality of the experience needs to be addressed for the price point.

I’ve been on several Haunted Tours in large cities, so when we saw that there was availability for a 7pm-9pm tour, we jumped on it!
After one ghost story, a trip to a cafe for beignets (which was 30 minutes of the trip), and several inappropriate comments from the guide to guests later, we were dropped off at 8:33pm because the guide “didn’t know where else to take us people”. I have sent two emails to the tour company since and 0 responses from them. Look elsewhere if you’re looking for a great quality haunted history tour. You won’t find that here. I’m giving two stars solely because the driver got us around safely.

Our tour guide seemed a little unenthused when telling the ‘stories’ of what happened in the French Quarter area. I felt like some things were inaccurate, as my husband and I are avid readers and there were references that did not make any sense. Hate to be that person lol. Overall we felt our guide was just very bland, which was totally opposite of a previous experience we had several years back on a different tour. Also- very disorganized. We checked in at the proper time (20 minutes prior), showed proof of the tour, but were given the wrong color sticker to wear. Giving 2 stars for value- at $30 pp it’s a bit more affordable than other tours in the area

Thank you for your review and acknowledging that our tours are more affordable than others in the city. However, I am concerned about your review of the tour guide because all of our guides do receive 5 Star Reviews on a regular basis. Can you please share with us who you had as a guide?

We have done a few of these tours and they were excellent. This one, however, fell short. We stood for about 30" in a very noisy area and could barely hear the guide. Instead of moving us to a quieter spot, we pretty much missed a lot of what they were saying. We were shocked that we were already taking a break and learned very little by that time. The guide really did not capture our attention like other guides have done.

I took the Dead of Night Ghosts & Cemetery Bus Tour.
It was interesting but not worth the money. They didn't let us out of the bus at any moment. The guide spoke very fast and it was hard to follow -though half of us were not native english speakers and asked her to go a bit slower-. She told some interesting stories but also, in my opinion, spent too much time talking about her personal life.
I wouldn't recommend to pay for this tour. For 1'25 you can take the public bus or streetcar and see the same: cementeries through a window

All around bad time. Our Tour guide was cranky and rude, I'm sure he thought his demeanor was giving knowledgeable but uncaring when in reality it was giving grumpy guy who hates his job. Whole operation felt sloppy as we were rushing through crowds and not given much of a round up before taking off into the chaos. Also if it's a bar crawl, and you KNOW where you're taking the tour to, why are we all waiting +45 mins for everyone to grab drinks and then start telling stories. How is there not an efficient system for this by now? Yes I want to hear ghost stories and drink but if I have to wait practically an hour, I can just google this myself and have a better time. The top it all off, the guy's stories were so boring and not entertaining in the slightest, we left early. You are better off grabbing a drink at any of the bars, and looking up the stories yourself.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like you should have purchased the French Quarter Ghost & Legends Tour, which is packed with Ghost stories and also includes a bar break at a haunted tavern. A pub crawl does focus on it being a drinking tour.

Tour guide apologized for being ADHD and having to do our tour backwards because of the parades?? We ran from place to place and then spent too much time on stories where she exaggerated and fibbed just a few times and was called out by others in the group. Sorry- keeping it real. She did not keep our attention.

Thank you for your review. Since 95% of the reviews we receive are 5 STAR Reviews, and quite positive, I must address your comments. If you attended your tour during Mardi Gras season, then yes, parades would have been an issue. Therefore, your guide was simply trying to accommodate the tour group and make the tour route work despite the parades. As to your comments regarding her exaggerating and fibbing, I would like to know why you feel the need to make this comment. New Orleans history is truly strange enough. We don't need to make things up or fictionalize it. Please do contact me directly, as I would like to know who you had as a tour guide.
