Address
Neighborhood: French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Really the only bar with good jazz in all Bourbon Street
Oct 2021 • Friends
Stumbled upon this jewel as we walked through a very drunken Bourbon Street. The music was great, local musicians were amazing to listen to, and drinks were served well and reasonably priced. If you can find a spot to sit and chill - can’t ask for more.

Fell in love with this place instantly!! Great live jazz music in the evenings. Best hurricanes we had in NOLA. Went several times during our stay. Staff was great!

Fantastic true Dixie jazz
May 2021 • Couples
Great place to hear live old time Dixie jazz. The ensemble with drum, horn, bass and piano played
Classic dixieland music. Drinks were reasonable minimum one drink or cover charge. The band had CD's for sale and of course a tip bucket. Only complaint is with COVID patrons were pretty close without masks. We are vaccinated so not worried. Hearing the music was worth being close.

The best jazz in the city
May 2021 • Friends
Definitely the best jazz club in New Orleans.
Quite wide choice of alcohol (except non alc beer), amazing jazz vibe and atmosphere.

P.s: there’s no food

Fun jazz bar downstairs and find your way to the speakeasy upstairs for some sexy and fun Absinthe drinks and a quiet dark spot.

Great little Jazz Bar with Live Entertainment in the Courtyard
Dec 2020
It took us a few days to get there while they were open, but with COVID that is the normal in most places.

The night we went we got there early, so we all grabbed a $4.00 To Go Hurricane and walked around the French Quarter until it was time for the Jazz Band to start playing.

Cost of Admission is one drink per person (minimum). Look out the drinks are strong!

The courtyard is a little small but very quaint. They sat people at the tables with social distancing in mind. We felt comfortable while we were there.

The band was great and we had a great time.

Good Music - Nice Escape Off Bourbon Street
Nov 2020
What fun! The front of the place is a dirty bar (but maybe that's how all the bars here are), but because of COVID, the band was playing in the small back outdoor patio, so that was MUCH nicer, and we really enjoyed it. The band was great - very funny, very entertaining and very talented. The waitress, not so much. She did a fine job but wasn't exactly friendly and inviting. I'd still go back for the band and would recommend it.

We sooo enjoyed our evening at Fritzel's -- great musicians of jazz, friendly crowd and excellent service. We highly recommend this traditional jazz club.

Searching for the secret Potions Lounge
Feb 2020
Yeah, it's cheesy, but how can one resist a password protected speakeasy??? Thought this would be a fun adventure, and yes, should be checked off your NOLA list. Perhaps we were just on the post Mardi Gras burnout, but the bartender in Fritzel's was totally dismissive. Once we found our way upstairs, the bar tender upstairs was also a bit vanilla.............perhaps suffering from too many vampire bites..............

Superb traditional jazz in the French Quarter
Jan 2020
Fritzel's is a small pub located right on Bourbon Street, but away from the more raucous clubs. It has a very relaxed vibe with no dancing and a more mature crowd, so the focus is completely on the music.

Their house band is superb, playing awesome traditional New Orleans jazz. Their set had a great balance of fast and slow tunes, and they had a good rapport with the audience. As far as I'm concerned, the best jazz club in New Orleans!
