Address
Neighborhood: Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.

When visiting NOLA, this is one of our favorite places to end the evening by sipping a drink and listening to live music.
The musicians come on later, so check the calendar for times.

Situated off the beaten track, in a local section of town on Tchoupitoulas St, you could easily miss it. Plenty of parking is available on the street in front and on the side.
There is no cover; however, we have always ordered drinks.
Several different types of music have been heard, from typical jazz to zydeco - a blend of cajun, creole, rhythm and blues.

Dos Jefes offers one of those old time, jazz atmosphere, with a wide variety of libations to enjoy, cigars to sample, and folks to watch!

Very laid back place to come have a drink and have a smoke. Yes people smoke here so if you're anti second hand smoke it probably won't be a 5 star for you. Even so this place is a must to check out.

Very chill place. Good place for visiting friends too. Just make sure they're not supporters of the smoke ban bill that just got struck down by the house..

While in New Orleans, we decided we wanted to avoid the bars on Bourbon Street at night, so we chose this place. We were not disappointed! Sunshine and the Louisiana Sunspots entertained us while we sipped sazeracs and martinis. The waitress was super helpful and very patient in helping us choose a cigar (we were clueless about it and just wanted the experience). You know a bar is really good when you see different age groups represented. People were getting up and dancing. Only complaint I have is that there was virtually no privacy in the restroom. I am looking forward to going back here when I visit New Orleans again.

Dos Jefes is a little off the beaten track and away from Downtown, but what a great find and what a fantastic, laid back vibe.
A perfect evening winding down at the end of a day of business meetings with great beer, cigars and world-class music from Wendell Brunious and Tom Hook.
Highly recommended and hope to go back some day.

I am not sure the exposure to cigar bars by my fellow travelers who submitted the five dot rating, but they, with all due respect, need to get out to more.

For those that have been to GREAT cigar bars (Stogie's in Houston, The Cigar Inn in New York and the Wall St Humidor, also in New York), Dos Jefes had a pitifully small selection of bad cigars , sad, mismatched, torn furniture and had no warmth, charm or camaraderie with fellow smokers as I have experienced in every other place.

In its defense, while I was waiting for a cab to get out of there, two employees were carrying in a red velvet sofa from a few doors down.

The female employee that assisted us in cigar selection was incredibly sweet and helpful.

I am GLAD I wasn't there during the live music. It is a very small place and it would seem to me the music would be very loud

This is a great place if you are a collage kid that doesn't know any better. Sorry, Jefes.

we were very pleased we bothered to take an Uber to check this place out, given that it's both a cigar lounge and a live music venue. the act we saw was fantastic (Betty Shirley Band), and it was very fun to get to see a great show while smoking a cigar. really, the only downside is that the cigar selection is terrible (a fairly small wall humidor), and overpriced. i just wish i'd brought by own sticks and ordered a nice drink from the bar.

Live jazz, cigars and whisky. Great place with soul and a laid back vibe. This place screams New Orleans from a humble spot on Tchoupitoulas Street. Must see if you're getting off the beaten path of Bourbon Street.

Nothing fancy....great music bands, good cigars (that's what my cigar smoking friends said), a pool table and we discovered an outstanding tequila called Republic....no bite at all and look for the taco truck for the munchies. Soon as I stepped in I felt good, plus a member of our party stepped in and sang with the band....a magical night all around.

We were visiting a friend who lives in Uptown. This is her favorite neighborhood bar and it quickly became ours too! So much fun. GREAT live Jazz bands and such a cool atmosphere. Swing by, you'll be glad you did :-)

While in New Orleans, we wanted to thank a colleague for his hard work on a recently concluded project. He likes a good cigar, a good drink, and live music. Dos Jefes fit the bill! What a tremendous find in a city swamped by tourists.

Out of the tourist fray, it is a local neighborhood bar with all that typically involves: friendly people who wouldn't let you stay a stranger for long if you were open to meeting people, great bartenders, the nicest bouncer on the planet - though I'd guess he can get serious if need be. The decor is probably best termed comfortable and kitschy; a screened patio, the main bar room, and on an upper level, lots of comfortable seating. All of the men in our group found cigars to enjoy - and the afficionado in the group had no complaints about the selection. And the double door stands wide open as does the door to the patio and something out back, too, I'd guess - so the cigar smoke does not build up in the air. As a non-smoker, it never bothered me to have cigars going all around me. There was plenty of fresh air moving through the place.

The bar selection was great. If you could name it, they could pour it.

But the best was the music. Live music - NO cover charge. WOW! Great, great jazz performed by fun, friendly musicians. The night we were there it was Tom Hook & Swing Cats Ball. Absolutely fantastic musicians. If you get a chance to hear them play - go for it. (Google them for their schedule.) You won't be disappointed. And be sure you stick around for one of the songs that Wendell (?) whistles. Incredible! It was the best jazz we heard all week - and we ventured out in search of great jazz every night. Forget the FQ and Frenchmens - at least for a night or two - and head to Dos Jefes.

It is a cab ride out to the bar, which is in an Uptown neighborhood. But you don't have to pay a cover charge to get in so it is well worth the fare. And when it is time to leave, be sure to ask the bouncer to call a cab for you - he will make sure nobody else hops your cab! Loved this place!
