an awesome find for out of towners

travelled to USA from Melbourne and stumbled across this awesome punk bar in the French Quarter. Cheap drinks, great jukebox, and a hot barman - thumbs up!

Stopped in, ended up spending the rest of the night there. Beer and a shot for $5, can't beat that. Cool jukebox.

We walked in and were greeted like old friends.. Cheap drinks (beer and shot $5) and great jukebox. Ice cold A/C. We were there on Friday Pie Day...Awesome place.

If you're looking for jazz and 'typical' New Orleans, then keep walking. This ain't for you. But for a rocker dive bar, it's pretty cool. Great selection of music on the jukebox. Cheap beers. It's pretty dirty but nowhere near the dirtiest dive I've ever been in.

Many times I've stopped by for a after work drink with friends. Never fail to witness bouncers or bartenders yelling or cursing at someone. Also reeks of BO most days. Cheap drinks are all that keep it afloat. Honestly its worth the extra few steps to spend the same amount, and have a better time on Decatur or Frenchman

My friend and I were going to go next door for a quick drink because we were parched, and a guy smoking a cigarette told us we should go into the Abbey, which we didn't even notice. Best move we made on our trip. Truly one of the best dive bars I've ever been to. Dirt cheap drinks, great jukebox,... More

It may look like a dive...but just go in...sit around and enjoy the locals. yup...just belly up to the bar and have a cold beer. Musty, really old and dingy, but classic, crafty and old new orleans.

Found this bar during the afternoon but didn't stay because I had other plans. Made a point to return at night for a drink. After playing some awesome punk rock music on the jukebox I ended up staying for hours!! The atmosphere, music and people were awesome! I wish I had a bar like this near me.

It was late, we were hungry and it was open! We wandered in and had some pub grub. Nothing special but it was tasty, the beer was ice cold and staff was friendly . Good value too.

Was roaming the quarter with some friends and discussing early Priest and we stumble around the corner and find The Abbey...walked in and Victim of Changes is on the jukebox...who the hell has Victim of Changes on a jukebox....and this wasn't one of those digital download machines. Needless to say we spent several hours there enjoying the great mix of... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
