Great spot for live music on Frenchman. Street

We had a great Saturday night at the Blue Nile listening to Mia Borders. It's a moderate size place so even when packed does not seem too crowded. We got there early and grabbed... read more

MUSIC was to die for....spacious ..... the drinks were pricey, $18 for a G & T and one beer ; but, there was NO COVER and the music made it worth it!

We had a great Saturday night at the Blue Nile listening to Mia Borders. It's a moderate size place so even when packed does not seem too crowded. We got there early and grabbed seats at the bar. There are seats around the walls and a few scattered around the room. It's small enough that everyone can easily see and... More

No cover. Went on a Sunday night around 8 & stayed until 1am. They had a great low key jaz band that sounded wonderful. Would be ideal for a date to listen to good music and still be able to talk. Around 10pm a big band came on that was so much fun they had half the place up in... More

We went to the Blue Nile to hear Kermit Ruffins play. There was a cover at the door which you need cash for but bar excepted credit cards. The drinks were good and strong. Kermit put on such a great show and I would be happy seeing him play every night!!!!! The atmosphere was perfect. They also have nice clean... More

First night in New Orleans and this place was a hit. The music was so good, mix of jazz, funk, rnb with a bit of a Caribbean feel. Free entry and the bar tenders were very generous with the alcohol.

I was looking for a great music venue to see a real deal brass band and found the Uptown Brass Band. This is a great venue for music. You'll pay a ticket price ($25) for attendance in the small and separate music hall but it's well worth it. The place has a nice bar on one side and a dining... More

Over charged for two drinks priced at $3 and was then charged $60.00 on my card. Such a shame because this bar was great for music and in a great location, but overcharging a card (perhaps because it was foreign) THAT much is just unacceptable.

Right off of Frenchmen street, Blue Nile is a must see. It's set up like a tradition stage, with plenty of dance floor and seating areas. On a Thursday night the band sounded great and the drinks tasted amazing.

Great atmosphere and music, good drink prices and we did not have to pay cover even after 11 PM. The bartender provided some interesting people watching stumbling around behind the bar and knocking bottles off the shelf - oh well everyone had a good time!

Such a fun night at Blue Nile - the Brass A Holics were amazing and had the whole place going... On a Monday! Highly recommended.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
