Address
Neighborhood: French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Very Cool!

Great place to see and learn about gas lamps. The man working was very knowledgeable and friendly. You could tell he takes great pride in his craft. Lamps were so cool. They can be made with either gas or electric, and they can custom design them to fit your home and needs. Check it out!

Craftsman at work
Jan 2020
This is a combination of a bit of a museum with the history of gas lamps, and the opportunity to watch the craftsman actually making the copper frames for a variety of lamps. He was interesting to watch, and friendly to chat with about what he was doing, and how gas lamps continue to be a ongoing business, shipping product right across North America.

True Craftsmanship

I feel so fortunate to have come across this ship. I certainly was not planning to purchase a gas lantern today, but I fell in love. Now I have to wait for delivery. Thanks to Brittnee for all of her advice. Cheers

Southern charm!
Oct 2018 • Couples
Hubby and I stumbled on this place quite by accident. Bevolo makes and sells the most amazing gas and electric lamps. Being from Australia, we don't have these lamps and it was fascinating to see the different styles and sizes. The guy making the lamps was extremely friendly and happy to answer any questions. Well worth a visit!

Amazing Shop for Gas Lamps
Feb 2019 • Couples
This is a must see if you are in the French Quarter. We were rambling around taking in the sites near Bourbon St and found this gas lit lamp shop. They build brass lamps in the old style at a working shop open to the public. I was able to stand at the work bench and watch the craftsman make some amazing works of functional art. It was all I could do not to ask to jump in and help.

The guys in the shop are friendly and knowledgeable about the products and history of the gas lamps usage in the Big Easy. I highly encourage you to visit. It will be a challenge for most not to make an order or take one home.

Get Lit in the French Quarter
Jan 2019 • Business
One of the most captivating things about walking the French Quarter is the ambience of the gas lit area. The perpetual torch consistently marks it's territory like a signature stamp of timeless elegance. Directly behind the retail shop of Bevelo is the shop where they handcraft these beauties. Due to their ultra fine craftsmanship, they each have a whopping life expectancy of 300 years. They offer a safety shut off valve on several models to comply with any regional regulations including earthquake zones. Copper is the main metal used however they are also available in brass and stainless steel. If your glass ever breaks, you may have to pay for the shipping, however they will replace your glass for free. The museum is also located in the workshop and offers a wonderful education about the history of New Orleans gas lighting throughout the ages along with photos of each designer...and the actual lit models are on display with a little background reading to enjoy. A beautiful add to any estate with the handiwork comparable to a Rolls Royce.

Gas lights
Dec 2018 • Family
Ever want to know how much the gas lanterns you see cost? How about how they are made? Or how hard is it to get the gas to the lantern?

My wife and I have always wanted to have gas lanterns at our house. This place was awesome , they make the lamps in the back... very informative and unique place to walk through.

Make sure to walk to the back!!! There are several rooms off the main gallery.

I was in 2 of their 3 shops and highly recommend a "look-see". The lamps are a delight. Some newer looking modern ones are on my wish list.

If strolling by, don't fail to go in
Jul 2018 • Family
Bevolo's sheds light (no pun intended) on an area we all take for granted, the wonderful Gas and electric lights seen all over the French Quarter and New Orleans in general. They create these lights and send them all over the US, starting at about $275. The fellow in the shop will show you how they manufacture them, or you can simply read the plaques on the wall. I found this very interesting and I bet you will too.
Fun.
Enjoy!
