Neighborhood: French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Wonderful Antiques Dealer
Mar 2016 • Friends
Whisnant is an old NO dealer in fine antiques; of note, they are closing in November of 2016 due to the retirement of the principal owner. They have a fascinating collection of Asian, Early American, Mexican Christian, and European art. Their pricing is fair and the staff very knowledgeable about their collections.

Could be a museum

This is possibly the finest antique store I have ever visited. The furniture an art works are exquisite. The smaller items are on a par, and the staff helpful. Not to be missed.

A chance visit that led to an extraordinary find
Sep 2015 • Solo
The Whisnant Gallery set in Royal St in the Freench Quarter of New Orleans is like an Alladins cave of varied and unique finds. On a visit here I walked into this place to browse. The array of artefacts ranging from early centuries religious items to the most beautiful and individual pieces of jewellery was quite amazing. The staff were helpful ( thank you Sal for your incisive knowledge ) and welcoming without being intimidating. I bought the most beautiful pendent gold encrusted with diamonds and was sold it at good price. Thank you to this gallery. I recommend a visit if you ever visit New Orleans

So many wonderful antiques!!

After I visited so many antique shops because I was looking for something, this antique shop was amazing! Almost like a museum!! They have everything of everything that you can imagine. I think their antiques are very valuable. I've never seen an antique shop which has such a range of quality goods, from ancient Buddha relics to authentic weapons. if you are looking for something spectacular, you should try this place!!

Always something new
Apr 2015 • Friends
I go to Whisnant Galleries every time I'm in New Orleans. There's always a lot to look at, and dream about. This time I was able to buy thanks to Mike Thompson. He got me a great deal on a pair of gold cufflinks that I'm happy to now own. It's a very friendly gallery in the heart of the quarter that you'll love to explore. Mike was also good enough to recommend a new restaurant for us, Restaurant R'evolution. It was truly amazing.

Lots to see. Jewelry, antiques, and furniture. Always like going to see what's inside. Great for window shopping. Must see.

Best gallery in the French Quarter!
Happened to stop inside because of the cool things in the window. What a treasure trove of the most interesting stuff you can ever imagine! There were old antique furniture of every kind, old type statues, weapons, paintings anything and everything! It's like being in a museum. We spent almost an hour in there. You really must come and check this place out. Lots of stuff to see. The employees there were very nice too.
