The area
Neighborhood: Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.

We walked past this house after seeing it here on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, the trees have grown, so you cannot see the view depicted on this website. Could not get the effect of seeing a wedding cake. It's a beautiful home, but so are many other homes in the area.

The Wedding Cake House actually does look like a wedding cake with all the pillars around the base and upper level. Worth a look.

Lovely house, well worth a few minutes to drop by and see it. I saw a streetcar stopped outside it but not sure if it's a stop or if it's a break point

We saw several houses that we felt were more beautiful. Stroll the whole area. There is some impressive architecture in that neighborhood. You won't be disappointed. It's a good opportunity to ride the street cars as well.
