I have been on food tours before, but this one was way above and beyond the prior best. The very knowledgeable guide spent large amounts of time explaining the culture that brought each food to New Orleans and the historical significance of each. The restaurants were much nicer than those in the standard tour, and each had reserved seating for our group. Some of the restaurants were not ever open to the public while we were inside enjoying the food. Instead of the few bites or sips of food and beverage, we were offered significant portions and full drinks, Think about the other tours offered in New Orleans that say you can buy beverages at each location if you want--leaving it to you to order and pay in addition to the tour price, and try to keep up with the tour since others are not ordering and the group may be moving on before you even have the drink. I also note that you can be tired after a food tour because you stand around in a crowded circle, often outside the restaurant, to hear what the guide is saying. On this tour you are seated during most of the explanations. I should note that you are also taken to the Pepper Palace, which is not a restaurant, but rather an interesting way to learn about and taste test a lot of the various flavors used in preparation of the historic dishes.
