Helpful and offer quality bike rentals
Jan 2018 • Solo
I called around to several bike rental shops looking for a ride other than a touring bike until I found Bicycle Michael's. They rent many types of road and city bikes, no touring. Bikes offered are single and multiple speed. I rented the bike I wanted, a helmet with a good fit, and a kryptonite lock. They were very flexible in the fours out and back time. Many shops restrict rentals to either morning or afternoon. There are several paved paths out of the French Quarter, including the shores of Lake Pontchartrain.

In NOLA the bike shops don't do reservations, which I found super disconcerting, but worked out fine.
The staff are friendly and open to talking serious distances to a woman in casual clothes and sandals.
Within minutes I was on a sweet road bike, perfectly tuned and intuitively already at the correct seat height.
Staff discussed possible routes for thesistance I was looking for,and took the time to give me an overview on Google maps.
Use the "C" streets to return from Audobon Zoo and other perfect tips.
They also gave a great dinner recommendation (Coop's) when I returned the bike.

I had a bad time they gave me attitude and trying up sell there bikes when I had no interest at all flat you telling them I am buying elsewhere. Wont exchange for anythings says its used and it has receipt and mint condition and nothing is wrong with it , i just wanted a better bike to put it on simply and people i can trust with all my needs. Dont go there shop around for your bike store go to Gerkins bikes if you have to or uptown better service less attitude forcefulness.

Bike hire

We hired 2 bikes for the day $35 each and 2 helmets $5 each. They were prompt and helpful and got us out on the road quickly. The bikes were 7 gears and chunky tyres so perfect for the flat ans some what pothole roads of the city.

I came to New Orleans to begin a long bicycle trip. I figured I'd get the tuneup in New Orleans. I saw Bicycle Michael's was near the French Quarter so I booked a hotel a couple blocks away and hopped on the Crescent with my bicycle. In the morning I walked my bicycle to the store and Tim was outside. He spotted the worn tires from a distance. I asked for a same day tuneup. No problem. Good work. Friendly conversation. The bicycle is ready for an adventure. I noticed they do rentals also so tourists get to Bicycle Michael's. They deserve your business.

Awesome bike shop

Recently moved to NOLA I needed to purchase a bike and Bicycle Michael's was recommended for their service. Helpful, knowledgeable, did not try to oversell but helped me find the fit for me. Highly recommend for purchasing a bike and saw them working with renters and people in for repair. Fun place to be.

Rented a bike for 3 days (instead of a car!)

I was treated very well by all three of the guys who helped me at Bicycle Michael's. I wanted a bike so I could ride around town instead of spend a lot on Lyfts/taxis. They wheeled out a good fit within seconds (I'm a large and tall woman who's always worried about a bike being big enough). I had so much fun cycling from St Roch to Uptown to Bywater and everywhere in between.

This is the second time I've rented from Bicycle Michael's. Great shop right on Frenchmen Street and knowledgeable staff. Reasonable rates and biking in New Orleans is phenomenal, highly recommended.

Summer Hours
May 2015 • Solo
Great bike shop! During to Summer, their hours are Sun-Thurs 10-5, Fri-Sat 10-7, and closed on Wednesdays. It's a real bike shop loaded with so much stuff, they're bursting at the seams. They rent bikes and have over 100 bikes available. They fix bikes and have excellent mechanics on staff every day. They sell new bikes and off season they sell down the rental bikes. Bicycle Michael's has accessories galore with many local items and cup holders!

One of the best parts of my trip
Oct 2013 • Solo
I decided to rent a bike in Nola rather on a whim, and it was one of the best decisions I made. NOLA is pan flat and ideal for cycling. I went from one end of the city to the other and saw much, much more of the real city than I would have otherwise. The guys in Michaels were unfailingly helpful, and when I came back after the first day and asked to keep the bike for a few more days, they were most accommodating and pleased by my enthusiasm. I will go back there again!
