The area
Address
Neighborhood: Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

Xmas outing
Dec 2019 • Family
Not impressed. Very expensive.
The xmas tree and lighting deco was nice but, too many people walking in your pic. No respect for the individual. A very busy hotel and the bar was packed. Limited seating.

The drinks were over priced $57.00 for 4 drinks service was terrible.
Too much hype for an average hotel. Will not return.

Its a nice place to see once.

It's the wayback machine - to a classier time
Sep 2019
Wow - the place exudes elegance the second you walk through the door. It's quiet but not somber, you glide in, suddenly walking like a 40's film star. Ramos gin fizz, please. Ice cubes jingle in the shaker and a tall cool blonde is placed in front of you. Sip, close your eyes and you're in another time.

Ramos Gin Fizz you are welcome
Jul 2019 • Couples
Sazerac Bar, home of the Ramos Gin Fizz. Had to pop in and check this spot out. Went there after eating at the famed but average Commanders Palace. Beautiful bar , knowledgeable bartender, Carlos, I believe, we were drunk, who explained the history of the bar, made us a round of Ramos Gin Fizzes and kept us entertained for a bit, until it was on to the next stop that night!!
Check out this beautiful hotel and hotel bar!

A classy Oasis in a hectic city
Feb 2019 • Couples
What a great way to wind down at the end of the day. The lounge musicians played classic lounge tunes as well as modern tunes adapted to piano and bass.
Our bartenders were professional and friendly and made some excellent drinks.
Don't let the fancy surroundings scare you away, the prices are fair for what you get.

Best classic cocktails in town
Mar 2019 • Friends
It's true, they very likely have the best Sazerac in town. It happened to be Mardi Grass and most places served everything, even the best cocktails, in plastic, but not the Roosevelt. Good show. It tasted like it should. Plastic does not do well when it comes to absinthe (or Herbsaint). As the bar, the hotel is a wonderful place which takes you back at least a century. Love it.

Classy lounge, good food and drinks, great music
Jun 2018 • Couples
We wandered into the Waldorf just to check out the entrance, foyer, and lounge areas just to see the beautiful marble floors, elegant chandeliers, etc. A jazz trio was playing in the lounge that sounded really good, so we decided to sit down and order a drink. We then ordered a hamburger and fries which we split since we were not that hungry. The hamburger was done just right, and the fries were also delicious. Not that pricey considering the elegant atmosphere and nice live music. Definitely recommend a stop at the Fountain Lounge @ Roosevelt Hotel, a Waldorf property.

Home of the Sazerac
Jun 2018 • Couples
Located inside the Roosevelt Hotel (Which is part of the Waldof Astoria chain), the Sazerac Bar is where the local drink the sazerac was first created. So, when in Rome..... this was a must stop for me as I developed a taste for this drink on a recent Mardi Gras cruise which stopped in NOLA and docked for three days. The hotel itself is magnificent, reminds you of old time NY or Chicago, and the bar is spectacular, a real old world feeling. Watching the Mixologist making the specialty cocktails was an event in itself, however it is not cheap, but in my case a must see and experience stop in the City.

Best Cocktails in Years!
Mar 2018 • Couples
This is like 'drinks & a show' watching real bartenders at work, mixing and muddling delicious cocktails. Fun for before and/or after dinner drinks!

Classy oasis
Mar 2018 • Friends
Our party of seven stopped by the Sazerac for a drink after a long day of walking around New Orleans. There are plenty of places to drink, but if you want an urbane, upscale ,historic spot to sip you drink....go to the Sazerac.

Not the bar in Roosevelt Hotel, but still Great
Jan 2018 • Couples
This is not the bar in the Roosevelt Hotel, that is called the Sazerac Bar. HOWEVER, this is located just adjacent to the entrance to the Roosevelt Hotel and is a great little tavern with a congenial bartender making an excellent Sazerac without all the stuffiness of its neighbor. There is a nice bar and second room with high tops and a pool table.
