Seriously, we have visited the Spotted Cat numerous times throughout the years and it continues to stay true, as a great dive bar and place to hear extraordinary music........ This place is a no-frills, gorgeous drinking venue, casting 1st chair jazz, blues and confused rockabilly musicians in a wave of a spotted tail. Oh, I love this place when the... More

What a wonderful spot to catch a great band and have a drink. I love a bit of a dance especially when good music is playing however there was not much room for this. The same ? professional dancers performed each night we were there limiting the rest of the crowd to standing room only. This is no fault of... More

We visited this place last out of 4 other jazz clubs. It wasnt the worst but there are better close by. Its good but you pay an entry fee and its small. Bring cash as it doesnt take cards.

We went after reading other reviews and it was worth it. The night we went there was a great band playing really good jazz. My husband usually doesn't stay for things like this but he loved it and we stayed for about 2 hours. the drinks were reasonable but be aware they only take cash.

First time on Frenchmen Street, a friend recommended this place. The jazz was on fire! Best I have ever heard. Standing room only, a bar but I don't think food. Go here if you're on Frenchmen, it's crowded for a reason. Loved it.

As a first timer to New Orleans and lover of music my priority was good music. The understated Spotted Cat is about two things: great music and have a drink (or two). Got there early for the first set where I enjoyed a great songwriter/blues player (shame on me for not remembering names) and made some new friends at the... More

We walked in, the room is pretty small and we still managed to squeeze toward the bar counter. Jazz was "booming".. excellent band!... Few minutes later, it went through the roof! OMG! what an incredible experience, will never forget! It was fantastic... Highly, but HIGHLY, recommended!...

A small bar, the Spotted Cat Music Club is full of energy when there's live music! It was standing room only on a Monday night, and the Jazz was incredible! Locals recommended this place to us, and it was such a fun find. There was an eclectic art walk going on outside, which made for a neat atmosphere. We walked... More

Great spot on Frenchmen street to catch live music. Beautiful art for sale on the walls. Small and always crowded. Definitely recommend, but it is one of the only places on Frenchmen where we had to pay a cover to get in, even later in the night closer to midnight, so don't forget cash!

What a great place to listen to live jazz! We went at night on July 2nd, and the band was outstanding. They really got into the music and I couldn't stop moving with the beat! Such a fun night. It was extremely crowded however, and was standing room only while we were there, but it was still fine because everyone... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
