We had a private tour of the French Quarter for our extended family of 11, which included 3 teenagers and 2 tweens and their parents and grandparents. Our guide, Richard, a NOLA native who has vast knowledge of his city, was simply wonderful. The tour...More

My girls really liked this experience. My 5 year old liked it a little more than my 4 year old. It was probably a little over her head. Moms and dad bring a drink along! It was great for the kids :)

Richard provided an awesome tour for our family, ages 7-70, that gave a real feel for New Orleans-the French/Spanish influence, music, food, geography, and it’s history.

We recently went to New Orleans and took the Creole Tour via FrenchQuarTour Kids. Our young boys -- ages almost 8 and 5 -- loved it. Our tour guide made the tour interesting and engaging for their age. She broke down concepts so that kids...More

Kids had a wonderful time. The tour guide had great things to entertain them, even though it was raining she was awesome with the kids.

Really, nothing like having a tween tour led by a former middle / high school teacher! I was so pleased at how our guide was able to engage all of the kids (who are of an age to be disengaged naturally, right?). My kids learned...More

This tour was one of the highlights of our family trip to NOLA. The Creole history tour focused on the role of the Mississippi River in the settlement and development of the city. Our guide did an amazing job of bringing that history to life,...More

Caroline was great! The kids had a good time. She was patient and engaging. I was impressed with how she was able to make the stories age appropriate, include historical facts and keep the kids interested.

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living
lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty
Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port
of call for folks in search of a good time and a great
story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs
across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied
around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively
well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the

I attended this tour with my teen sons, 16 and 13. I believe a parent is required to be present. The tour was well done, age appropriate, and nothing you wouldn't see in the Quarter walking with your family on any normal... More

Not at all.. Our son is a very mature 10 year old, and he loved it.. All of the other kids on the tour were 5-7, but the host did a great job of speaking to both age groups. Highly recommend it.

Under two hours. From the starting point maybe 6 New Orleans city blocks. From La Fitts to Jackson square is the longest stretch.

Itinerary for 3 young children and 4 grandparents (7 Replies)
Hello, I'm planning a 4-night visit to New Orleans for Thanksgiving weekend. The group includes three young children (ages 3, 7, and 7) and four grandparents in their 60's. We are staying at the Intercontinental. I'm looking for suggestions for our itinerary. We want to do things that are unique to Louisiana during our short visit. (We are not going to do the aquarium, children's museum, amusement park, etc. - things we can find in many other cities.) Here's what I have in mind so far: ...More

Looks like a good plan. I would consider adding the Audubon insectarium to the mix, it's unique and you won't find something like this everywhere. Swamp tours at this time of year are also not great. We went a couple of weeks ago and already there were not many alligators in the water. Take the street car along st Charles avenue. I would also highly recommend e world war 2 museum to add to the mix, it's one of the best museums in the country. As far as plantations, oak ally is...More
