My only regret is not booking multiple tours with Jill and team! We were in New Orleans for a couple of days and because of the age range of my kids, I was having a hard time picking one option. Jill was communicative and helpful. So glad we booked with her. I ended up booking a private tour option (no pressure on us to do so, it was our call) because of some specific timing circumstances in our group. Jill is clearly a gifted teacher, she was able to immediately connect with our kids - ages 12, 10, 6. They were all engaged, asking questions, and listening to the stories. I appreciated the way she spoke to them, encouraging questions and fostering inquisitiveness. Our time together flew by. We enjoyed it so much that I looked to see if we could squeeze in a group tour but we weren't able to get another one in before our flight home. A reason to go back :)
I will recommend French QuarTour Kids to anyone I know headed to New Orleans! Would love to see similar teacher lead tours in other cities. Let us know if you're ever in DC, Jill!

I want to start off by stating that I live just 74 miles away in the Baton Rouge metro area, but we were headed to New Orleans for a dance competition for my 8 year old, and we decided to make a weekend out of it. I wanted to do stuff that would keep the interest of my 8 year old and my 2 year old who I would be strolling - as just walking and shopping in the Quarter would not. The Zoo and Aquarium can get expensive when you have a few people in your group, so I came across the French QuarTour Kids on a blog post I was reading about the French Quarter with kids. I immediately booked, because my daughter loves stuff like that.
I am so glad I did because Jill was AMAZING. We all (my daughter, myself and my sister who was with me to assist with the kids) learned so much, even being Louisiana residents. Not only was Jill informative, she also made a point to interact with the kids - not just talk at them - with each thing she was teaching. Definitely recommend for anyone coming in from out of the state with children, but also to our Louisiana families!! You don't want to miss!

We did the twilight tour with Mary Carol. 3 kids aged 10, 8 & 6. She was so great with the kids and told great history that even captivated us adults. The kids absolutely loved the real ghost hunting equipment like electromagnetic meters. It helped make the experience so hands on and Perfect for the kids. Highly recommend!

Richard, our tour guide and a retired teacher, made the Sounds of New Orleans tour fun for both the teens and the adults In the group. We covered a lot of ground throughout the city and even went a little long, but Richard never made us feel rushed. Thanks for a memorable and fun tour!

Such a great tour experience. My kids (5 and 8) were completely captivated the entire time and have still been talking about it ever since. We did the spooky tour and it was perfect. My 5 year old can be of a worrier and it very scared of ghost but our guide was wonderful with him and helped him feel comfortable and safe. He has not been scared or worried since the tour either (I was at first worried about him maybe getting too scare. But it was def not an issue at all.). Our host experience with children was apparent from the moment she arrived. All the kids in our tour followed and looked to her for guidance and information just the way they would on a school field trip. The host masterfully and safely guided the kids around and kept everyone engaged and participating. I highly recommend this tour!

Our family had a wonderful time on the spooky kids tour. Our guide was absolutely wonderful. All of the kids were really engaged in looking for ghosts and had an absolute blast. My daughter (7) literally talked about how she found clues and the ghost for the rest of our trip. We will absolutely be doing another tour with French QuarTour Kids.

My two children loved this tour, they learned a lot (as did their parents), and were engaged the whole time. It was obvious that the tour guide was an experienced teacher because she was able to keep the attention of my youngest daughter (a nearly impossible feat for anyone). I highly recommend this to anyone who has elementary aged children!

Our 5 kids (ages 13, 11, 10, 8, & 6) can be a handful but our tour guide, Jill, was WONDERFUL! She kept us all moving and engaged throughout the tour, even the surly 11 year old who tended to wander off! We could definitely tell she's a teacher and good at keeping kids engaged and having fun-all while learning some really cool things about NOLA (history, science, culture, creepy stuff, and really interesting and heartbreaking facts about Katrina). The kids are still talking about the tour and how much fun it was! Our 10 year old's favorite part was the fencing with Ms. Jill- yep, she brought swords! All 7 of us really enjoyed the 90 minutes and the time just flew by. Thanks so much, Jill! We have some really happy memories of our special morning with you!

Awww that's so sweet! I was just thinking today of how brilliantly you translated from French the 200 year old want-ad for the pirate Pierre Lafitte. You have a wonderful gaggle of kids- so inquisitive, energetic, curious. I loved how involved the entire family was! It is indeed a happy memory!! Hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit! (I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review-- it makes a BIG impact on small businesses!!)

Candice was so engaging & a wonderful story teller! My 2 kids loved every minute & are asking to do it again. The props, tools & stories kept their attention & the adults really enjoyed it too. Best thing we did in New Orleans!

Three adults took three 11-year olds on this Music Tour in the French Quarter. We listened to music, learned history, took pictures and left feeling educated and enlightened. This was a wonderful tour!

Can the teens go on the tour without a parent?

I attended this tour with my teen sons, 16 and 13. I believe a parent is required to be present. The tour was well done, age appropriate, and nothing you wouldn't see in the Quarter walking with your family on any normal day. NO WORRIES you will NOT go anywhere near Burbon Street on this teen tour.

Hi! I have an 11 year old son who is interested in both history and haunting (but not too scary :-)
Is Spooky Kids too immature for a boy that age? Does Creole include any haunting/ spooky stuff?
Thanks!

Not at all.. Our son is a very mature 10 year old, and he loved it.. All of the other kids on the tour were 5-7, but the host did a great job of speaking to both age groups. Highly recommend it.

how much walking and how long?

Under two hours. From the starting point maybe 6 New Orleans city blocks. From La Fitts to Jackson square is the longest stretch.

I have a 3 year old and a 10 year old. Could you recommend a tour for this age range?

The 10 yr old will have a great time. The owner adapts the tour to the age range of the child. The 3-year-old will like walking around and will be able to focus on some aspects of the tour.

Thanks for your interest in the tours! Unfortunately, we are not able to do the tour in Spanish. We do talk about Spanish culture and influence but I can't speak Spanish besides a few words. Please check back!

We have three kids which would fall into two different age groups (12, 9, and 5). Which tour should we do? We'd like to do one together.

Hi ChristusG!
Thanks for your interest in our tours!
The Creole Kids Tour is your best bet. It was initially designed with kids who are 9 years old but easily adaptable to a few years below and a few years above.
The Tiny Tour is relatively new. Before then, all ages attended the Creole Kids Tour. The content and delivery of information is flexible and adaptable to most age levels. (We have a Teen Tour for those big kids now!)
*I agree that your 12 year old might not be as excited to follow a pirate treasure map! But... all kids are different! All kids are welcome :)

Can you give me a cost of this tour for adults and children? Thanks
FQK
New Orleans, LA12 contributions
Thanks for inquiring! The tours are $20 per person. If a child is under 4 years of age, he / she is free. Our teen tours last longer and are $25 per person. We do offer private tours for $250 for up to 13 people. I hope that helps! If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask. Thanks ~ Jill
