Great option to dance, jump, act silly or whatever you want as long as you don't mess with anyone. The bands play live music and the atmosphere is quite friendly. You can see some weird looking characters going into the bar to dance with the patrons. Although there's security personnel you keep an eye on your belongings. Drinks are priced... More

Found this place by accident as we were out walking if an evening and were drawn to the music - so glad we did. Great atmosphere with random dancing throughout the tables downstairs (must confess our guilt at this); and bar staff very helpful and enjoying the music themselves. Doesn't get much better!

This bar always has a rockin' live music and it's spacious enough to accommodate larger bands. It's always a fun time at Balcony Music Club and we stop in on our way to AND from Frenchmen Street since it's right on the way. Excellent venue.

Small bar just off the French Quarter. Live Music. Have been a couple of times and the atmosphere is great. Both times we went, the music was Blues which was a nice break from the constant Jazz in other bars. Go and kill an hour or two - you won't regret it.

This is a friendlier, less-pressured venue than most in the Frenchmen Street area. The music was great, bar staff pleasant, plenty of seating and no cover charge. What more can you ask for?

Take a stroll from Bourbon St down to BMC, it is well worth it. we listened to two great bands and enjoyed the setting and other clubs in the area.

We came for Gal Holliday and had a great time. Catch her if you possibly can. A delightful country singer and band. This club offers a very wide choice of artists. Check the sign board in the window. The lead in group played big band classics and were a special treat. The back patio bar has a limited selection of... More

The real deal, authentic, and best of all no cover charge. Give this place a chance. Live music that is enjoyable, happy , and infectious! Finally a place where one can enjoy music in an uncrowned environment. One more time :pure, real, and a must!!

This club was about a block from our hotel. We dropped in 5 of the 7 days we were there. The bands changed multiple times each day, usual starting about 3:30 and going until after midnight. The variety was good, performers good, we will definitely go back on our next visit. There is no cover, no minimum.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
