This is a great tour for those who wish to get aquainted with the city. We did not have an exceptional experience. To begin our tour, we were greeted by several other passengers who used foul language excessively. It was totally unnecessary, especially with children on board. Towards the end of our tour, a confrontation occurred between our driver and... More

We booked a 3 hour New Orleans bus tour. Since we were not staying in the city, we asked them where they would like to pick us up. They indicated that they would prefer to pick us up at the big information center at the edge of the French Quarter and they gave us the address. We were instructed to... More

We booked a tour to the Oak Alley and Laura plantation houses through Southern Style Tours. I'm not sure if we were the only people to book that tour that day, or if it was overbooked, but rather than a tour bus, we traveled via a stretch limo (which seemed rather wasteful for 3 people, but was certainly very comfortable).... We used a groupon for this tour and it was both a bargain and a great experience. The driver was local and new the culture and the history, along with local jargon. As a historian, I only noted a few mistakes in his dialog. We saw the French Quarter, cemetary, Katrina area, the Garden District, and many other historic and... More

Our driver was more concerned with telling us how high the water got and where to get a free dinner on your birthday than giving us any history of the city. I was very disappointed that we got to see and hear almost nothing about any of the famous landmarks, residents past and present, or much of anything that makes... More

We took this tour once in July 2015 and liked so much that we booked them again in April 2016. They pick you up from your destination and drop you at a destination of your choice which is convenient. The guide was knowledgeable and funny. He also had a great selection of music. We drove through french quarter and learned... More

Having read the unfavorable reviews, I was hesitant. But I'm glad I took the chance. Darin was great. He's entertaining and that's what's important. This tour is a great way to see many points within the city in a short period and return later to spend more time at your leisure. The single stop is very short so make yourself... More

This was a great tour. Lots of information throughout, and the drive made it as clean as possible for the families on the bus. Got to see many areas around the city. The stop in City Park was a good break, especially for the kids. Well worth it, and would recommend to anyone just getting in, or even someone who... More

Just took this tour with my parents and husband. We all agree it was definitely a highlight. Darren (?) was fun, informative, and took us to so much of the city we wouldn't have seen otherwise. It was great having a native lead the tour, even honking when we passed his brother's house!!

My cousin and I recently visited New Orleans , LA. We spent a couple days after a cruise in New Orleans to visit the city. We wanted a personalized tour away from all the crowds on the cruise ship. We were thrilled with our 3 hour tour with Darin our guide! He was absolutely one of the best guides we... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
