Our B+B hosts recommended Bruce as a personal guide for a 2 hour walking tour of the Quarter and they steered us right. We arranged in advance (email) to meet him on the steps of the Cathedral and we took off immediately for an unrushed but adequately comprehensive look at this unique district. Bruce had a couple of themes to... More

We had Jane for our tour and it was wonderful. Filled with historic (stories and truths) and current recommendations for where to shop and where to eat. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Wife and I wanted to learn a bit more about French Quarter so we signed up for a walking tour. $20 each for 60 minute walk around a few blocks. Host was nice and informative but for the $40 bucks for both of us and the obligatory $5 tip, I suspect we could have found a free phone ap and... More

I found the tour and our guide Charlie very informative and helpful. He also took a small detour to show me the address of an ancestor that I had found doing genealogy research. I highly recommend this tour.

This was the most amazing walking tour! Bruce is an encyclopedia of New Orleans history and knowledge. His stories are so interesting and we hung on every word. He packed so much into a 2 hour tour - history, art, literature, music and at our request, Katrina. There was never a question asked that Bruce did not have an answer/perspective... More

We had a delightful tour with our guide, Bruce Nolan. Bruce explained the amazing history of the French Quarter with a wealth of knowledge about the buildings, the history, and the fascinating people who built the city. It was one of the most enjoyable and memorable tours we have ever taken. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed hearing the history of some old buildings and restaurants in the french quarter, and of course, having a cocktail at these places was nice. Sandra Smith our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative on our walk.

Had an excellent informative talk done by enthusiastic tour guide Billiejo. Pointed out lots of interesting detail that we would have missed just doing a self guided walk.

We had a great walking tour of the French Quarter, Julie, our tour guide was great. Having lived here for many years she provided much insight to the history of the French Quarter. We met several couples at dinner and recommended the tour without hesitation.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
