Bob’s narrated ride was the highlight of our visit to NOLA. You get a look at the city from a totally different perspective than you would any other tour…upfront and immersed. Bob is very knowledgeable of the city and has researched all of his narration, so you can bank on what you hear being accurate. As mentioned in other reviews, do the tour early on in your stay, as what you see and hear while on the ride will help you utilize your time for your greatest enjoyment. Bob gave us many tips and suggestions that were invaluable. Don’t look further, Bob is your guy!

Bob's Esplanade bike tour was one of the highlights of our trip. He was super laid back and informative, pointing out places to eat or visit and telling us a ton of history. He was extremely knowledgeable and we loved how it ended up being a private tour with just the 2 of us in our party. The ride was a good pace, no hills, and we beat the crowds and heat because it was early. We'd definitely recommend Bob's tours and book another one the next time we're in New Orleans!

This was a great way to see New Orleans. Bob is so nice, helpful and knowledgeable about the city, dining, the music scene and much more. Saw things we never would have seen and got some exercise on a beautiful day! Super convenient, as he brings the bikes to you. He also recommended an IMAX show Hurricane on the Bayou, which was Great. Thanks again Bob! Your new friends from Madison, Wi.

My wife and I were looking forward to a bicycle tour on Saturday, November 1, offered to provide credit card information to confirm a reservation approximately 1 month in advance, were told that it was not necessary. She called again to confirm, 2 weeks in advance, was told that they booked a group of 6, no longer have room for us.
There are several other bicycle tour companies in NOLA with excellent ratings, choose one that is honorable, reputable.

My first clue not to book with Bob should have been the Email I received from him where he stated "my reservation was a bit of a pain, when it shouldn't be." I thought he must have been having a bad day and continued with my reservation with him. On the day of our tour we were waiting at our hotel for Bob to arrive with the bikes as organized. BUT NO BOB. Our bell hop called Bob twice with no answer. After 3/4 hr of waiting for him to show our bell hop organized another bike tour for us with "Freewheelin" and we had a great time. At first I was upset, but I think things worked out for the best. After talking with others I came to find out that Bob frequently doesn't show & we had a great tour with his competitor and at a cheaper price and covered the same area Bob had promised to take us. Had a great bike tour without unreliable Bob!

I am sorry that you reservation became a problem, The issue was that is was never confirmed. There were 18 emails in the last two you were still asking about dates and times. The reservation was never finally confirmed or completed. I think my product and reputation speak for themselves. I do invite you when you return to NOLA to take a complimentary tour so that you can actually see my product and honestly compare it to others.
Thanks

I did the 20-mile "Ride" tour with Bob. The tour was easy to schedule via email even though I only gave a day's notice. Bob picked me up at my hotel with the bike and helmet, and the bike has a small basket to fit the bottled water provided and camera/phone/wallet. Don't bring a purse/bag, as it will not fit. The bike seat was comfortable, although I recommend wearing shorts that will be comfortable for biking (no heavy seam) and obviously comfortable shoes suitable for riding. We started out along the riverfront, where Bob pointed out several sites to see in NOLA while we were there. We rode up Esplanade to the City Park, through the areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina/the broken levy, and back to the French Quarter. I always felt safe, even though the ride does confront vehicular traffic, and it was clear Bob was aware of traffic and the riders' safety. You definitely need to be physically able to ride this far. Although we rode at a decent speed and took breaks, there were strips where we rode for a few miles at a time without stopping. I wouldn't recommend this particular tour for children...mature teenagers should be fine, as long as they're not gonna fool around on the bikes during the ride, since you are riding along traffic.
The thing I enjoyed most about the ride, aside from being able to see NOLA from a different perspective, was the history of the broken levy/Hurricane devistation. I wasn't really expecting to be provided this information, yet it completely interested me in the story of the Hurricane and subsequent flooding. We rode through the neighborhoods devistated and were able to see the rebuilding efforts, which are still on-going. In addition, we took a quick ride through a cemetary, and Bob explained the manner in which persons are buried in NOLA. City Park is beautiful, and, like other reviewers, Bob's tour allowed me to see areas of the city I would have never visited otherwise. I felt like I got a lot more out of my visit to NOLA after having taken this tour. Bob also recommended some restaurants and asked us to contact him with any other questions while we were there.
Few things: Bob is a little rough around the edges...he is very defensive about the hurricane/flooding/rebuilding efforts. To me, this demonstrated his passion for the city that he clearly knows and loves so much. However, to others, this may be a turn off. He doesn't sugar-coat anything. The ride ends in the FQ, so you will have a short walk back to your hotel (depending on your hotel location). Enjoy the ride! I did!

Did the 10 mile Esplanade tour and loved it. Bob truly loves New Orleans and you can feel his love for the city in every story he tells. I love biking and I feel it offers so much more than a bus tour. With a bike, you are actually "in the city" not just looking at it through a window. Did a saturday morning 8 am tour, and me and my wife had a blast. The riverfront was beautiful at that time! Not only did I get to see things in the city of New Orleans, I got some great bits of history as well. Bob also gave us great recommendations for additional eating and drinking establishments. We will be visiting Frenchmen St tonight! CANT WAIT!!
If you are looking for a bit of exercise and some great non drinking fun, I highly suggest you give Bob a call. Do it well in advance so you guarantee yourself a spot. Bob only takes out small groups, and the trip felt like an outing with a friend. A very smart friend. Very reasonable price for a once in lifetime experience. thanks again Bob!

I did the bike tour with Big Easy Bike Tours, and it was FANTASTIC!! The highlight of my trip! It was 3 hours, we rode all over the city, to parts of the city I had never been to in 3 previous visits. Saw tons of great stuff. And Bob, the guide, was absolutely teriffic. He was full of information and knowledge, but he kept it light and fun and didn't over-burden with too much detail. He was friendly and pleasant and happy, and just great to be around.
The next day I did a tour with Confederacy of Cruisers bike tours. Their tour was different. It was very enjoyable as well, but hands down, Big Easy Bike Tours was better. I would recommend both companies, but if you can only do one, make sure you book with Bob -- it is well worth it.
The tour lasted 3 hours, and was a bargain for the price (by comparison, the Confederacy of Cruisers tour is also 3 hours, but that includes a stop for a drink, which seems like a waste to me).
This was easily the best activity of my trip to New Orleans, and I can't recommend it strongly enough!!!

My husband and I signed up for Big Easy Bike tours based on a recommendation from a friend. The tour was excellent and lived up to everything that it was promised to be. Bob is extremely knowledgeable about New Orleans history, culture, music, food, museums, etc. and gave us a great overview of the city. He also provided a lot of information about Hurricane Katrina which was very interesting and insightful. You really sense Bob's passion for the city and feel the same way once you complete his tour. A plus is that he also brings the bikes right to you!
I highly recommend the longer 20 mile tour since it is not too arduous and takes you on a great exploration of all of the different areas. I also recommend taking the tour at the beginning of your trip since Bob gives great recommendations of other things to do and see while there.
Bob's tour is a must and will be the highlight of your trip!!

Overall, "the ride with narration' tour was great. Saw lots of interesting things, and a lot more of New Orleans than we would have seen on our own. Two warnings: the bikes are kindof junkers and one of them kept breaking down on our tour. Bob did not have tools to fix it so that was a drag. Yet what soured our day more was Bob's caustic personality. I am really surprised only one other reviewer mentions this. Yes Bob knows a lot, but he is very opinionated, a bit of a zealot, and easily offended if you touch one of his hot-button topics by accident. It got to the point that we were wary of asking questions or making comments because he might bite our heads off. He was actually quite rude on occasion. Anyway, mixed feelings. Fair warning.
