Bike through the little seen parts of New Orleans with us and take a ride...

Bike through the little seen parts of New Orleans with us and take a ride through the rebirth of a historical neighborhood. See not only the damage from Hurrican Katrina, but the uplifting rebuilding; and more importantly, why the neighborhood needed to survive. We'll visit the levee, learn about the musical culture, and meet Ronald Lewis, local historian and curator of the House of Dance and Feathers. Definitely an unforgettable day.

This is a fab way to see New Orleans from a completely different perspective. Our guide Leanne from the lower 9th ward was fantastic, informative and relevant. The tour starts from Washington park, through the 9th ward and back. We covered topics from the hurricane, rebuilding, and general information about New Orleans to visiting Mr Lewis at the House of... More

Unforgettable tour to see the lower 9th almost 12 years after Katrina and learn so much about the history, culture and people of such an important part of New Orleans. My husband and I considered it a highlight although cruising past the empty lots, remains of houses and ongoing aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is a very sobering experience. We started... More

This tour was selected by one of my travelling companions, but it was one of my favourite experiences of the trip. The tour group was pretty friendly, our guide was knowledgeable and it was evident that she really cares about the area. This is a unique experience from the perspective of looking at the old and new architecture, the revitalization... More

The bike tour is definitely the way to see this neighborhood. LeeAnne was a wonderful guide. She was well prepared, professional and personable. Can't wait to do it again!

Our guide LeeAnne was a wealth of first hand knowledge, with a family history dating back to her 'Triple G Grandfather'. We learned so much about New Orleans, the Ninth, it's past, its Katrina and where its headed now. Meeting and talking Mr. Lewis at the Museum of Dance and Feathers was an honour. The visit to the urban farm... More

we had a very nice day cycling the ninth ward. If I may be honest, and I am sure, this is what this review is all about, the tour we had a couple of years ago in the Treme, Marigny and Bywater area was a little nicer. We know, the ninth ward is a a bit more difficult as there... More

Im sorry you found the trip a little depressing, that is not the vibe we think we give off at all, a little of the neighborhoods long history, the culture of music and parading, and of course the problems pre and post Katrina along with the rebuilding since are all part of the stroy. The neighborhood does not have the... More

My husband and I were looking for something a little different and to really understand the effects of Hurricane Katrina, so we chose this biking tour. After 4hrs of easy biking through various parts of the city you might not otherwise visit, we learned sooooo much about the pre and post Katrina era from the knowledgable guide and owner, Jeff.... I'm so glad we took this bike tour! My aunt helped with the animal rescue in 2005 and wanted to revisit. I can't say enough good things about our guide Nick. His knowledge of the area, pride of his neighborhood and just seeing the progress this neighborhood has made is beyond humbling. The Dancing Feathers museum we stopped at was... More

I debated about whether to do this tour or not, I was really interested in the area and what had happened during and since Katrina, but I didn't want to be a gawping tourist looking on other peoples' misfortune. For anyone else wondering the same, don't worry, it is not like that at all. The tour is very sensitive to... More

I'd researched the Lower Ninth Ward, in particular the imapct of the levee failures, a great deal before the trip, and I still learned a lot. The guide, Leanne, was warm and welcoming, checking in with us frequently to make sure we were comfortable with the pace (very easy) and asking if we had any questions. She shared a lot... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
