We booked a private charter on the Bayou Boogie for 10 guests. Captain Badass was a friendly and fun guide for the day with a penchant for the Lonely Island. We had one request for the day which was to see an alligator if possible. It was the end of February, yet sunny and warm, so seeing a gator was really 50-50. And by God did this man find us an alligator tucked away near the shore, impossible for us tourists to spot on our own. He had a bag of marshmallows to lure the gator closer, which we were unable to do as we had “Slim Shady” playing perhaps a touch too loud but at least it was checked off our list. The bathroom on board was kept clean as well. Finally, our captain had a nice surprise for our guest of honor towards the end of our cruise. Everyone else from the checking in guy to the bartenders at the dock bar to even the man painting the dock were equally pleasant and hospitable.
As for the cruise itself, it doesn’t go into any tight quarters. I would certainly go in mind that this is a booze cruise and not a true swamp tour, but it was a lovely ride regardless. The pedals unfortunately didn’t work on our boat and we weren’t told until we arrived, however our party was relieved that there would be no work involved on this trip. Overall there were a few hiccups that could have affected our cruise, we were just in a specific state of mind that the problems didn’t affect our experience. The only real problem I encountered was when booking a private tour, you are to pay for a deposit when reserving the boat and the full amount for the booking isn’t provided until checking in on-site. If there was a way to provide the full total upon reserving and then only having to pay the deposit at that point, it would be appreciated.
Ultimately I would say this experience is definitely worth checking out and request captain badass if possible. For captain BA, in case you forgot it is called a Flabongo.
