Address
Neighborhood: Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

- Princess279East Brunswick, New Jersey1,163 contributionsHuge venue! It's understandable why this venue was chosen to host 14000registrants for a convention. Things to know: Riverwalk food court next door has a variety of convenient food options. If you find walking challenging, explore available indoor transport options. Finding your way between the theaters, ballroom, and rooms involves the amount of steps requiring a substantial level of endurance. Have I mentioned?! - Bill BBel Air, Maryland20,301 contributionsHalf a mile of conference spaceThe New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is at least half a mile in length. There are large Halls labeled A through J on the ground floor.. There are smaller meeting rooms on the two floors above. There are many vendors selling food and refreshments all along the concourse. While we were here, there was an interesting lighting scheme in the halls using Mardi Gras green, gold, and purple. Fortunately, taxis patrol the road along the way. Small tables are set up outside. Restrooms and other conveniences are more than adequate.Visited November 2024Traveled soloWritten November 14, 2024
- Walter SFriendswood, Texas39 contributionsStill A Nice VenueThe Work Boat Show was expansive and it was very well attended. Parking was not too bad, we got in just a few blocks away. A cautionary note: Before you start chasing down all your old friends there, remember the facilities are all on the far back wall. It can take a while to get there. Also, keep an eye on the carpets in the aisles.....if not taut, they can develop a wrinkle which can cause a stumble. Still a great facility, though, a nice venue.Visited November 2024Traveled on businessWritten December 7, 2024

Hadn't been here before this trip and it is one gigantic conference center. It has nine giant halls, each one the size of a good sized conference center on its own. Our conference was in Hall J and even included a three story theater. It was comfortable and fit us in well in all of our breakout sessions. I would happily come back here for another conference.

We went to a convention here in New Orleans. The convention we attended was huge with lots of attendees. The space is large and it requires lots of walking. I wished there were more coffee and drink options. The ones that are available are a cashless transaction

Came here for AANP 2023 national conference. This place is huge so we had the entire end of the conference hall for the NP conference which was great. The place is freezing, so I suggest you bring a sweater. Unfortunately, most of the food options were not open, so that kind of sucked. I was hoping to get PJs coffee here but no luck. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Bring your walking shoes.
This building is huge
Not enough places to eat in the building but the riverside shops next door more than make up for it

This Conventions Center is absolutely huge... To go until the final of the building, we need to walk around 500m...and it's not a joke !!!

The NRECA convention was held here. This place is huge. The only problem was they were replacing the front entrance to the center. There were over 8000 of us attending but it was easy to get around.

Great staff, clean facilities but the front street construction really takes away from the experience right now with limiting where you can enter. More water bottle filling stations would be nice too but great options for any convention space needs!

This Fan Experience was awesome!! Activities for all ages, wish our grandkids would have been with us. Very interactive with both teams being well represented. Would highly recommend for the next National Championship (Miami?)

I attend a lot of conventions and the Morial Center is a good place to attend. The biggest plus is the location. You can walk to most of the places you would like to see after hours. Lots of restaurants and hotels near by. The facility itself is fairly updated and of large enough size to hold a good convention. It is long and skinny in shape but don't let appearances deceive, it is large.

Enjoyed a 4 day conference in this convention center. About 15 minute walk from the French Quarter. Next to the cruise ship dock and shopping mall. Very spacious and nice convention center. All my sessions and exhibit floor experiences went well. Staff are very friendly. Starbucks staff in the food court were a big disappointment. Two days in a row the food court did not seem to open for lunch. Good news is that there are plenty of nice places to eat a few blocks away.

The conference I am attending says they are offering free wifi within the conference for attendees with a specific SSID for the conference. Has anyone had experience with this in the past? How was the quality of the connection. How is the cell phone coverage inside the convention center - Specifically Verizon if known. Thank you.

Are there any hotels that are connected directly to the convention center?
Written December 27, 2019
There aren't any physically connected but there area dozen within a couple of blocks.

I'm looking for recommendations for food either just inside or near the convention centre. Quick bites and snacks only please? Thank you

There is a starbucks inside the Marriott Hotel across the street. At Julia St., there is a hole in the wall store that has snack and soda. Across from that is Mulate's. There are a few other places, within walking distance... but the Con. Center spans and easy 5 block area.

What is the average temperature inside the convention center?
Written October 29, 2017
In the hallways it was always around room temperature, but depending on the size/length of your convention that will dictate the temperate inside your venue. Time of year also plays a factor.
Written November 6, 2017
The convention center does not have it's own parking lot. You have to use commercial lots in the neighborhood and they are not cheap. You should use public transport or a shuttle from your hotel.

There are numerous hotels within easy walking distance of the convention center, even right across the street. Start with TripAdvisor and check the little inset map for the hotel that strikes your interest to get an exact location relative to the conv. ctr. I stayed at the Quality Inn & Suites on O'keefe because the price was right, the reviews were good, it had breakfast included and it was a about a mile from the conv. ctr. Using my feet and a couple of streetcars, getting to and from was no big deal
