Neighborhood: Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.

I am new to NOLA and friend recommend I visit The Dark Lady. I loved it so much I visited twice in one week! Matt is so welcoming and helpful. He listened to my needs and helped me pick out some pretty great items that I am really excited about. During my second visit, I had a reading with Krysten. Throughout the reading she consistently hit the nail on the head offering insight into some recent obstacles. I was blown away. If you get a chance, I would highly recommended stopping in and checking out what they help you with. The Dark Lady is a very charming NOLA treasure!

After visiting several stores in NOLA, I decided to come here. While at the other stores, I felt like the items there catered more to getting tourists in. One store I went in, the lady made very rude comments to a customer and the vibe was just bad. Immediately when entering this store, Matt greeted me and was super friendly and helpful. The products available were the products I had been searching for. I recommend this store if you’re looking for legitimate products and friendly people.

I was in there for no less than two minutes when I took out my phone to send a text. Immediately the male shop owner screamed at me and told me to not take pictures. He told me to delete any pictures I took and called me disrespectful, but I was not even taking pictures. All the stuff for sale seemed really touristy and gimmicky, and the rude shop owner should learn self-awareness and to not be rude.

I went to the Dark Lady twice so far and had an AMAZING experiance! Matt was wonderful as well as genuinely sweet and so very helpful. I high recommend this shop and if anyone thought that it was "touristy" it's far from it.

My daughter brought me to her favorite store. Loved it! The decor, the atmosphere, the inventory.. all on point. Owner is from our hometown 1500 miles away! Great customer service!
