The area

Address
Neighborhood: Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

Took my wife to New Orleans for her birthday. Made reservations for the cocktail class and boy when I tell you we had the greatest time! Camille and her staff was very informative and excellent with the hands on teaching. I totally recommend them if you get a chance when going out there!

A group of friends and us participated in this course for my wife’s birthday. The class was fun and informative. The owner taught the class and she was knowledgeable about New Orleans history and cocktails from the area. After taking this class, I have a new appreciation for practice of cocktail making and cocktails that are made from fresh ingredients.

I’ve shared this class with other friends visiting New Orleans and I plan on returning in the future.

Being an annual visitor to NOLA, I am still amazed at the things we find. New Orleans Drink Lab is one that will be on our schedule for years to come. Having visited at a time when COVID is still affecting business here, it was a treat to be able to still participate - and they took every precaution to make you feel comfortable given the circumstances.

From the beginning you are given a brief, but concise, history of the Lab and cocktails. It is run by 2 of the most talented professionals that one could expect and the instruction was presented in a fun and humorous manner. The Classic class teaches 4 NOLA drinks. After taking the class, knowing what we were taught, I will never again order these particular drinks without knowing what process the bartender is using.

Taking the class has given me more of an appreciation for what happens behind the bar and more disdain for what doesn't or shouldn't. It has definitely upped my game for home mixing and has me hungry to learn more.

Word of caution-no matter how much of a drinker you are, plan ahead. If you drive in, have a designated driver - otherwise take some other form of transportation. You WILL be feeling it after the class. Class is 2 hours long and you consume 4 made how they should be drinks (with some judgmental half-shots mixed in). Doing the math-won't pay to drive.

All that said, it, by far, is one of the best experiences we've had so far in NOLA. We thank Camille and Daniel for continuing during such a difficult time!

Completely unique, fun, and interactive experience. The owners are warm and welcoming--and they clearly love what they do and want to share it with others. You learn how to build spectacular cocktails while also learning the history behind them. Cocktails now look like little delicious works of art to me. Thank you to the owners and full staff for a special night.

We celebrated my friend's bachelorette in NOLA, and this was the #1 activity of the weekend. Camille was very welcoming and hospitable, and had some interesting fun-facts to share. Daniel knows his alcohol! We were impressed with their knowledge.

My wife and I are New Orleans locals and spent an afternoon at New Orleans Drink Lab as part of a staycation and we couldn't have had a better time. The four other people in our class were also New Orleans locals, but I could see this being a great stop for tourists looking to escape the French Quarter for a few hours.

The owner, Camille, greeted us at the beginning and the class was taught by Evan, one of her longtime employees at Victory bar next door. I agree with another reviewer that I'd rather keep the details a secret since much of the enjoyment came from learning from Evan, but I'll share a few details. The class was about two hours long and we made three cocktails. They provide food and water to keep you hydrated and fed, provide bits of cocktail history and mixology theories, and you get to drink each cocktail after you make it!

Please make sure you arrange transportation to take you home after, whether that's an Uber or Lyft or you just walk back to your hotel. The Victory bar next door also has the same owners and was a great place to pop in for drink after the class.

After leaving the class, I wish it hadn't taken me so long to discover New Orleans Drink Lab, and we can't wait to go back and take one of the other classes!

This was a Christmas gift so I really had no preconceptions. I figured it’d be fun, and the takeaway would be learning to make classic cocktails.

Well it was fun and educational and all, but it was SO much more!! The owners, Camille and Daniel are charming, passionate and pretty damn funny. Especially Daniel.

Daniel teaches the class and he’s an expert mixologist. But he’s also an accomplished raconteur. He commands attention or..., well let’s just leave it a mystery.

Much of the fascination and enjoyment comes from the mystery and surprise. So don’t do too much research. Just buy tickets, bring as many friends as you can and go have one of the best experiences of your life.
