The coolest!!
Nov 2021 • Couples
My husband and I went there before Thanksgiving for a happy hour with food and DJ.
We had a blast!!!! Such a cool and unique place that you must see by yourself. You’ll be amazed!
I wish I knew how to play instruments and that there were more artists in there, so we could make good music.
The DJs did the job well and we danced and enjoy the moment.

That’s the place I’d recommend to anyone! Definitely a must-go!

This is truly a one-of-a-kind musical cultural experience. The unique site has an amazing variety of numerous, artistic structures crafted to be musically interactive. Creativity to the nth degree!! What a delight.

Musical playground under the sky!
Jan 2020 • Family
Fun place with a magical atmosphere. Like a big musical playground for kids and adults alike. Must walk around building to enter. Coolest sinks in the bathroom - check them out! Bar and snacks on site. A little pricey but when you understand the history and purpose, it was worth it.

Cool venue
Dec 2019 • Couples
We went here to check out Nicholas Payton and "Tank" Ball. The show was wonderful. Re: the venue. It was really cool. Because of the actual show, we did not check out the different displays and sculptures. However, they looked pretty cool. I would recommend this place for something "different" esp if there is a great band playing. Get there early as there is limited parking and bring chair/blanket for seating.

Extraordinary collection of do it yourself musical instruments created from junk. A kitchen full of pots pans tops and sinks ready to be played. Must be seen. Your children will be delighted no matter their age.

What a magical place
Nov 2019
We went at night, I thought someone was playing, but instead he was hanging out around the instruments. It was very well lite and walking around climbing on things was not problem. It wouldn't be good on a muddy day or a wheelchair bound person.
We had so much fun playing all the different wacky instruments, who would have know that lids to a pot would sound so great? We didn't have any problems with our GPS finding this place, but it is off the beaten path. We told so many folks about this place. Kids of all ages were having a blast. We got a drink and walked around enjoying watching and playing all the fun instruments. Go and have some fun.

The Biwater By and By: A Day Among the Derelicts and Degenerates
Sep 2019
My timing was off: I was too early. So, here’s what you do: Go for a late drag queen runway, or sit by the pool and be the runway (you decide) brunch at The Country Club ending in time to hit the around 2pm dog walking at Villalobos Pitbull Rescue Center. Yes, it’s rusted metal buildings under the bridge. For $15 walk a dog. If you are early or late, pay the $15 anyway and take a little tour. Shine some love on the dogs and the peoples, while they shine some love on you. God loves them any which way; they only show about 12 dogs at any given point in time but there are like 400 dogs on the premises. Then, head over to the Music Box Village. The Uber driver was afraid to drop me off because it was a dusty vacant cul-de-sac next to the train tracks. Yes, its a thing; a metal circus tent made into a sculpture garden reminiscent of the meth's head from True Detectives. But have a drink there, it will grow on you. Then walk or Uber over to Studio Be to see the murals on the rusted old metal buildings. Don’t mind the homeless people in the park; they are just trying to live. I like being around the colorful houses and gardens while I steam. There are some antique shops, yoga studios, beauty salons and gin joints along the way. In my head, I am playing Ani Defranco but you could play Black Crowes or Solange among others in the hood. Note: The Island of Salvation Botanica is now in the Healing Center (wrong address online). I was looking for a crystal ball that I saw at a gorgeous jewelry shop downtown last year but they were out. The Healing Center looked cooled though. I would consider rendering or receiving a treatment there. You still have time before dinner to walk to Frenchman’s (Yes, it is walk able). I saw somebody like the Altman Brothers are Jones-ing there. Then dine at Miss Nina Compton’s Biwater Bistro. She can smother me In curry sauce or wrap me in bacon anytime. God I love it so—I may have to move there.

So unique— make time to visit!
May 2019 • Couples
We stayed in Bywater and walked over to this whimsical wonderful “sound playground “. Check their online calendar and make time to go! It’s an enclosed art installation that combines sound and architecture. It’s run by a nonprofit organization of artists and musicians. We paid the suggested donation and brought drinks at the makeshift bar they set up. They also had free food from some of the local restaurants— fried chicken , pizza and barbecue. A good way to sample the local places to eat. Fun and so unique!

Out of the norm
May 2019 • Couples
Venues like this probably don’t exist in many other cities but it thrives here in New Orleans. The trees are what makes it so special. Sets the tone for everything else, including the music. Glad we came.
