The area
Address
Neighborhood: Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

Looking a bit tired since I was there last.
I had not been here for a few years. The place was looking a bit tired and needs a revamp. I could see some areas were closed off so hopefully this is going to happen soon. It also didn't look as bust as it used to be. Still an enjoyable place to visit though.

Clean, With a Few Down Machines
This casino is non-smoking inside, which makes the place quite pleasant to be in. Even though I was there on a Friday night, it was not packed. The casino is clean, but I knocked one star because they do have quite a few machines offline. They also look to be doing some construction, which may impact some patrons.

    Great Location, No win Casino
Nice Hotel and good lookin' Casino floor. Plenty of Gaming and I play a lot of places all over the country. Vegas, AC, Biloxi, PA and then some. This place pays out very little. I couldn't pull a quarter out of this place. 3 days of play in High Limits and Table games and not a dime. The best thing about this place is the location it sits in one of my favorite cities on the planet. Close proximity to all. Hence the 3 stars otherwise it would have been 2 strs.

    Not worth second trip
This is a mixed review. We did enjoy but was still Very disappointing. Reason is they had hardly no table games open, maybe 15 or so. The lowest minimum was one table for $10 which is fine. However the game was high flush so really to play it was $30 per hand if you played whole hand. $10 min bet then $5 each for flush and straight flush. No you don’t have to play them but it’s a boring game if you don’t. Roulette same way, min bet one one table $15. The average couple can’t afford to bet $30 total per hand for the two of them. Won’t be going back to New Orleans again.

    Nice sports book.
This casino is really big. It’s the only one outside of Las Vegas that’s ever felt like Las Vegas. It’s clean and has several food choices. The sports book is really awesome.

I came to Harrahs with friends to have fun and gamble. While I was gamble for a few hours my phone died so I went to find a power outlet to charger it. I start charging my phone and casino personnel walk by and made some friendly jokes but I had one young lady who look me up and down and put her hand on her nose as a jester or something while making bad face expressions . She look at me and said this is a restricted area and you can’t stand here. I wasn’t upset because what she said but because she had to make faces and body signs like she can’t just say it. I did like the way one of the casino personnel said he just charging his phone. I come to Harrahs casino a lot but I may need to take a break for awhile and by the way it was not a restricted area because other people was in that area.

Do not and I repeat do not stay at this hotel they literally will not answer the phone there is absolutely no service to you they expect all guest to walk down to the front desk and request everything my toilet is broke and I can’t get any help paying as much as 274 a night do not come here it’s terrible service actually it’s no service they are not cleaning rooms due to “covid” and no phone service and if you want towels you have take the elevator down 20 floors in my case and request them . I really would leave tonight but I check out in the morning .oh yeah they only give you internet access to two devices and any additional is 10 dollars per device per day so if you have kids forget it

Don’t waste your time paying for a reserved table at the new sports book/betting area. They made us pay $200 to sit down. 30 min later they quit monitoring who came in and everyone else came in for free. I complained to 2 different “managers” and was told that “after half time” they don’t charge. Considering there’s 10+ games going on at once, not sure which half time they’re referring to. You also have to walk to the food court to get your own food. Not worth it!

When I went into the smoking area a white man came by and hit me. There were 2 casino workers there fixing a machine. I told them that this man just hit me. They looked up then went back to what they were doing. So I'm screaming why did you hit me, I told him to get away, leave me along. Finally a lady next to me told the man to leave her along, she said you hit her. The man came back again he asked me for a light for his cigarette I told him you didn't have to hit me for a light, I gave him a light he left. I feel like the workers should have protected me and called security. They did nothing. One of the workers said to me you don't know him? I told him no. I got to the point that whenever someone came in I would be looking around to make sure this man didn't come back. I finally got up and left. With all this racial stuff going on he could have came in and shot me instead of hitting me.

Visited with some friends...Would put this place near the bottom of other casinos that I've visited. It's beautiful. The architecture and interior decor are high-end and very appealing to see. I felt like the focus on customer experience was lacking. No roulette tables with a lower than $25 minimum. Everywhere else I've played, it has been $10. That was too high for someone of modest means (like me) to participate. I found a machine that I wanted to enjoy. Kept getting error messages to "re-insert" my (player's card. After ten or so tries, gave up. Pushed the "Request beverage" button. After fifteen minutes, still no human to take my drink order. In use of bathroom, two of the three toilets had been urinated all over. I realize that this reflects more on the ignorant guests than the management, but it still seemed like things just weren't being checked frequently enough to provide a quality experience. Lost $180 here on two visits. Never could seem to win anything. I DO in other settings. Not sure if games are rigged, out of alignment, etc. I won't be back.

We are from a different state and didn't know that you had to enter the casino with ID just to eat at the restaurant that's visible from the entrance. My daughter looks young and was chased, threatened and yelled at in her face by a woman security guard. She was very rude and threatening. We were completely shocked and will never return. Honestly, it didn't seem like that great of place from what we saw to spend your money.

Hi mcanjura, Thank you for sharing details about your visit. We are very disappointed to hear that this is impression your visit left you with. It is the law that anyone who enters the casino must be 21 years of age. This is true for customers wishing only to eat in our restaurants, buffet or our theater as well. We are truly sorry that this incident was handled this way. We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused you during your trip and we sincerely hope to have a chance to make it right in the future! Sincerely, The Total Service Team Harrah's New Orleans ES

Hotel staff was wonderful...casino not so much. Betting $80/hand, if I've ask multiple dealers and the pit boss for a waitress, and after an hour nobody, you've lost a customer that you clearly didn't value.

The New Orleans Harrahs is branded and very similar to the other Harrahs properties.. A great low key place in the heart of NO to have fun. Acme being a part of NO traditional forms of offering NO style food was a great asset to have inside the casino.

I’ve not been to a TON of casinos but enough to know that usually they treat customers well because they want you to stay and spend your money! Not here. The only staff that were kind were the waitress and the gal cleaning. If you ask a question you are met with an impatient attitude. I was trying to get a cash advance from my card which was approved by the casinos ATM. Went to redeem this, and since my ID had my full legal first name, but my card had my abbreviated first name, the cashier literally threw my cards back and said she couldn’t approve the transaction (that was already APPROVED by the casino’s ATM) because the name was different. I had a passport card with me also that proved who I was. She then waved me off and said “next person”....offering no help at all. That dollar amount was stuck in limbo for hours before I could use it again. The line for this “cashier” is confusing and they just help whomever they choose. We stood in line and watched people just come right up and get assistance even though CLEARLY
there were people there before them
WAITING.

I wish all casinos were non smoking casinos like Harrah’s. They do have smoking courtyards with machines. We had good luck at Harrah’s which we attribute to one of the sweet cleaning ladies named Rosie. It seemed like every time she was wiping down machines near us, we would win. She was very nice too. Lots of good food options here too.
