Jessie brought me and my friend on a great tour of Bayou St John. He gave a thorough tour both on a historical and environmental aspect. Exploring the bayou was great. His speeches were very enjoyable and questions well received. That's the kind of things you want to do if you want to get out of the beaten path in Nola !
Highly recommend it.

Jesse is full of great knowledge about Bayou St. John. He takes you on relaxing, easy paddle, stoppping at several spots to enjoy the wonderful historical houses or giant live oaks. We learned about how important the bayou is to the development of the city. We saw lots of turtles and herons. I highly recommend this tour for any one taking a visit to New Orleans. It is different than your traditional historical tours. You are able to get a little bit of exercise, be out on the water, and learn a few new things to impress your friends and family. Definitely kid friendly too!

We had a fantastic time on our tour with Jesse and Crescent City Kayaks. Bayou St. John offers beautiful views of Mid-city and lots of cypress and live oak trees. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and how the bayou contributed to the economic birth of New Orleans. The tour has a relaxed pace and we felt like the balance between time spent kayaking on your own and time spent listening to the history tour was spot on. Excellent tour—we highly recommend it!

I took the kayak tour with Jesse up Bayou Saint John. The tour was a lot of fun and very informative. It was a very fun and unique way to learn about the history of the bayou and New Orleans.

This was a really great tour of a place I had no idea existed or was so essential to the development of New Orleans! It's a generally easy kayak experience, and two of our group had never kayaked before, so it's definitely open to all skill levels. You're on a contained bayou so you don't have to battle with open waves or too strong of currents. I went with stitches in both hands and was fine. It is a bit of a workout and you'll feel good afterwards, but feel confident going in practically any condition or age!
You launch from the grassy banks and slide easily into a historic waterway. The tour is about two hours, but we stop and Jesse tells fascinating stories along the way, so you're not paddling the whole time. At various points, Jesse talks about the early history of the bayou and why it's so important (don't worry, no spoilers here!), points out ecological factors that contribute to the evolution of the delta, and highlights notable buildings and landmarks. I learned so much!
The kayaks can be made tandem, or solo. Definitely bring sunscreen/hat/sunglasses if it's a sunny day, and put any electronics in a dry bag (Jesse has one) or leave them on dry land. High odds are you'll be fine and dry the whole time, but you know... I err on the side of caution when dealing with water and expensive electronics :)
Jesse also apparently leads other walking tours of town, so his knowledge is vast and comprehensive. A great guide!

Jesse was a great tour guide with interesting facts about NOLA to share. And of course, kayaking and being on the water was great. Not too strenuous, beautiful day, and a unique way to see the city.
