Ginnie was our guide and filled the time in the van by sharing all sorts of interesting tidbits about the area. The swamp boat was fun. Lunch at the oak plantation was good. The Laura plantation was most interesting. Day well spent.

best tour companies in new orleans?? (1 Replies)
I'm planning on visiting New Orleans for 4-5 days during the first week of April. I've been doing some research on different tours in N.O. and need some recommendations on the tour companies. I'm interesting in doing a combo tour of Oak Alley and Laura Plantations and a swamp tour, and am thinking of either Cajun Encounters Company or Tours by Isabelle. I'd also like to do a tour of the Katrina effects, possibly by Tours by Isabelle. I'd also like to do a voodoo tour. Does anyone have any...More

Can't go on Tours by Isabelle (9 Replies)
We are heading to NO in a few weeks and cannot get a commitment from Tours by Isabelle for the post-Katrina tour. We would like to avoid the Greyline Tour. Are there any other tour suggestions? Thanks

I'd wait for the Isabelle tour. She doesn't confirm tours until she gets 4 or 5 people to commit, which makes sense she can't operate a tour for 2 people! It'll probably happen and, if it doesn't, you can then schedule with someone else. From my experiences, Isabelle is top-notch.

plantation/swamp tour (3 Replies)
Hi, We had decided on Tours by Isabelle for the combo tour but they do not run unless there are at least 6 in the tour. They decide up to the night before. That makes it a little scetchy for planning ahead. We are on the list and they will let us know if it's a go or not. What company is the next best? We'll be there at the end of July and I would like to have all my ducks in a row so I do not waste time. Thanks so much.

Sportsmum, if all else fails, ask the concierge of your hotel--they'll book you fast! I loved both Honey Island, Manchac, and LaFitte's swamp tours. The only Plantation I've been to is Oak Alley, which I THINK we booked with Cajun Encounters. It was nice as well.
