We were in New Orleans for a couple of day prior to Mardi Gras. Normally, most businesses do not run many tour during this time. When I contacted Dixie Tours, they quickly and efficiently set up a tour for us. Our guide, Gene, met us promptly. He rearranged their normal tour, so that we could get the entire experience and miss the normal crowds and parades on Lundi Gras. Gene, a New Orleans native, was entertaining, informative and a joy to work with. We learned a lot about New Orleans and all of our questions were answered. A nice touch is that Gene had a microphone and speaker, so everyone in the van could clearly hear him. This tour was not only the highlight of our trip, but one of the best tours I have ever taken.

Our driver (Steve) picked up our group of 4 at our hotel. Van service for a total of 7 passengers. He gave us the basic format and said that he would add in anyhting else that we wanted. Garden District brought a few rain drops and he brought out umbrellas for all of us! Very personable and full of interesting stories about NOLA. We said we were there to celebrate St. Joseph's Day. He made a stop to "pick up something" and returned with a sampling of traditional Italian cookies - and the fava beans which were a tradition of St. Joseph! He also called his wife to get the info for the parade. Great knowledge of the area - and many funny stories! We did receive a discount as Trip Advisor members - highly recommend this small tour company.

Why on this tour with my husband's elderly aunt and uncle. We told Javier, the owner, what we were interested in. Our tour guide John, took us all over and was so knowledgeable. We even drove by the location of my grandmother's house where she lived in the 1900 census. John was nothing short of awesome. We enjoyed ask aspects of the tour but our favorite was the personal museum in the 9th Ward we went to. This was the best tour we took on our trip. The van was comfortable and easy to get in and out of. I would go again.

Small group tour of the city, almost customized to our needs. John the tour guide picked us up right on time from our hotel and first asked us if there was anything special we wanted to see, in addition to what he had already planned for the day. He was very professional, extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He spent at least 3-1/2 hours with us taking us just about every part of New Orleans all along explaining in great detail all the notable sites. He was very patient with us and answered all our questions. Very impressed and highly recommended

I had been looking for a private tour that provided some sort of SPANISH (via in spanish or even translated)...I had been looking and looking--found a few for approx $600. What a rip off! Then I found MR. FRANCISCO JAVIER!. This gentleman--that's the perfect word to describe him--was such an expert. Even from the first few moments on the phone--he was caring and polite--you can tell he is well-educated. He quoted us his more than fair price--and arrived minutes early at our B&B. The tour was exactly what we first-timers were looking for--EN ESPAÑOL--he knew city history, dates, names, places--he even asked us what we were more interested in seeing...he helped us take pictures--he helped us all in and out of his clean and comfortable van, stopped in key places, etc. The man is brilliant. To make things better--he wore a head microphone to ensure we all heard. Javier (as his friends call him) was a joy and really gave us an intimate picture of NOLA. I highly RECOMMEND Javier and his company--especially for a Spanish tour--but he does just as well in English. This man is well-educated and obviously cares about your experience. The tour is scheduled for approx 3.5 hours--He gave us approx an hour plus extra--and then recommended local treasures to eat. See the 9th ward intimately and get to know the real NOLA. He made our trip. Gracias SR. Javier--Usted es un caballero.
