San Juanillo is a nice beach, some areas are a bit too rough for swimming. I would definitely recommend wearing water shoes otherwise your feet will get destroyed. There aren't any restaurants or shops around so you'll need to bring food and drinks if you...More

Stayed in San Juanillo for 3 weeks. Greatly enjoyed the beach. The snorkeling was excellent. You could also walk along the beach to multiple connected bays. Some surfers present, but other locales may be better if that is your prime interest. Many great local restaurants...More

We hit this beach last week. It was hot out (31 C) and the water was so nice. We snorkeled with our 8 year old and had a blast. The tide pools were nice too. Not crowded, 22km north of the Pelada / Guiones beaches....More

But go to the side where the fishing pangas are. It’s less rocky, and when the waves are high there is fun body surfing.

The beach is two deep water coves separated by a sand bar peninsula. There is a small hike-able hill at the far end of the sand bar which makes it a cool place to explore. Fishing planchas anchored away from the beach on the left...More

Is simple, is still in the middle of nothing. No big buildings around and pure nature and local people around. The ocean is clear and they are many tide pools to enjoy. Amazing for snorkeling, swimming, having a beer, etc. Is this beach with some...More

This beach is uncrowded and one of the most beautiful places on earth I’ve ever seen. There are tress for shade. The water is warm and calm. Not a beach that you need to worry about rip and surf. There is also a side of...More

Travel will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes (60 km) from Tamarindo to San Juanillo. You need a 4wd vehicle to get there. The place definitely worth it.
