I've been around Madison since the 60s and found out about the Historic Architecture Tours this year. Thanks Covid! These tours are a great way to learn about Madison and its architecture. The docents are very good with an easy and informative presentation style. After the first tour, my husband and I joined. We are looking forward to more tours.

I have lived in Madison for 35 years. Through these tours, I've learned a great deal about significant and unique houses / neighborhoods I thought I was familiar with. I have now been on 5 of these tours and will eventually do them all. Thank you to the volunteer docents!

Mark led a great tour of the Mansion Hill West neighborhood! This was just one of the terrific tours offered by the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation offered each summer. Mark had great material and a well-designed walking route featuring historic and gorgeous homes, some of which are true mansions. Plus, we each got a free beer at the legendary Plaza Tavern! All for just $10!

Thanks, Mark, for taking the time to let us know you enjoyed Madison Trust for Historic Preservation's Mansion Hill West walking tour (and the beer afterwards!). You can see the beautiful interior one of those mansions at the Trust's celebration of the recently renovated Old Governor's Mansion on Thursday evening, Oct. 17. Check our website for tickets and a schedule of our last two walking tours this weekend, Sept. 21 and 22.

If you love built history then this a great way to spend time in Madison. Our guide Mark was wonderful and eager to share his stores of both local knowledge and architectural history. We had a wonderful group, and found two separate owners at home who allowed us impromptu visits inside their houses! It is a great way to learn the city's history.

My husband and I have lived in Madison for over 50 years, yet we learn new things when we attend these tours. Judy knew so much about the history and architecture of the homes on the Mansion Hill West tour. We loved that she had a microphone so we could all hear her without crowding in close. It was a perfect experience.

Hi Linda! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed our tour of historic Mansion Hill West and that you found Judy a knowledgeable guide! We agree, the microphones help in areas such as this were there is more traffic noise--and it worked well! We hope that you'll join us at future events and tours with the Madison Trust.
