I was around when this mall originally opened... water fountains and all. When Hilldale mall was a dump. Times change.... Now Hilldale is a top notch mall and west towne seems to try to hang on to its last shreds of dignity. Big shops pulling...More

West Towne Mall used to be the best in Madison, but is now really struggling. With the demise of the Boston Store and Sears, the mall is now left with only JC Penney and Shopko (both also struggling) for large department stores. Toys R Us...More

This mall is nice to stop at whenever I pass through. There is also another mall close by called Westgate Mall. Westgate has a great craft store that I would highly recommend to anyone passing by. Between both of these places it was fun to...More

My girls first trick or treat and it was phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and the atmosphere was great. The costume contest was very entertaining. Thanks to the whole mall family.

Nice stop to make before heading home when driving over four hours. The mall is clean and it is nice to see family out shopping. We always stop here to do some shopping and to get a bite to eat at the food court. We...More

Nice and clean. Lots of stores but lots of the same. Forget hoe many sun-glass and cell phone places there are. Can get great deals from the "hallway" vendors of you "negotiate".

It was definitely worth a stop, but the parking was terrible. There's a good amount of stores, something for everyone.

Help!! (14 Replies)
Ok, so my best friend and I are headed up to Madison this weekend for our annual weekend to get tickets to The Great Taste of the Midwest. We stay at the Ruby Marie Hotel, eat dinner at Essen Haus, followed by gorging ourselves on Paciugo Gelato. I have just learned that Paciugo Gelato is no longer downtown OR at the West Towne Mall. Is there anyplace else with gelato in Madison? Gelato is part of our tradition and this tradition must not die! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

A new gelato place has taken over where Paciugo was - both locations, so you can still get your fix. If you want to try another place, I know that Java Cat on Monona Drive has good gelato, too.

Restaurant near West Towne Mall (4 Replies)
Staying in Madison December 11th. Looking for a good restaurant, NOT A CHAIN, something we can only get in Madison. We are staying near West Town Mall but are willing to drive extra if needed. Thoughts?

Check out restaurant advice in the upper right corner. The ones on the west side are closest to the mall, but nothing is far away. Pam
