We had a great tour around the Madison Capitol Square with Levi. We are very experienced food tour travelers and have enjoyed tours all over North America (Miami, Nashville, Chicago, New Orleans, Toronto, Montreal…). We give the Madison Capitol Tour high marks on all aspects: informative, fun, nicely paced, good balance of walking (especially after carb heavy stops) and good value for the time and food.
Levi was an experienced guide who was well versed in the food stops, the neighborhood and the capitol itself. The capitol tour itself was a real highlight including a trip to the observation deck and stops at key points to learn about the history. We had “hangers-on” (not part of the tour) stop and listen to Levi’s stories about the capitol because he was so engaging and professional (he did a polite job of sharing where to get a capitol tour from the information desk and offered the information about the company’s website).
We have taken tours with Madison Eats in the past when we have visited our adult children in Wisconsin. The company has maintained their value and quality of their tour experiences.

We - husband and wife - had a great tour! Miranda was great and offered detailed explanations of the history of the city as well as the places we ate and the foods we ate. We enjoyed Madison's slider and especially the fried cheese curds at Lucilles's - the bank vault was cool! We recommend this tour in Madison!!

We had the best afternoon with our guide, Miranda, leading to the best eats in Madison. We’re from Illinois and love learning history about the cities we visit. The Capitol visit was a first for us and was amazing. It a great stop after sampling cheese curds, wings, empanadas and Mac and Cheese pizza (amazing, by the way)! We were able to appreciate the architecture in the downtown area and Miranda was able to provide background about the buildings and people connected to the amazing restaurants. We sampled pasties, homemade pretzels with cheese and beer. Be sure to save room for ice cream at the end! Very fun, delicious and we’d highly recommend!

Spent 3 hours on a downtown Madison WI food and Capital tour. Otehlia was a fun, knowledgeable, and high energy hostess. We sampled some fun food and brew at a couple downtown venues. We enjoyed our time touring the beautiful Wisconsin State capital. Would recommend taking it in, she also explains some of the local buildings history and architecture.

Absolute must for anyone - foodie or casual visitor- to experience the Madison food scene! Shona was our tour guide and made our weekend trip memorable and fun. Knowledgeable about the Madison food scene as well as history of the city, you’re sure to learn a lot of hidden gems & fun facts about Madison no matter how well you know the area! every stop gave very generous samples. Madison Eats tours is a very cost effective way to get a taste for the Madison foodie culture & scene; strongly recommend to anyone in the area whether it’s a short weekend trip or a longtime stay!

Arrive hungry! Very informative tour and tasty! Bart, our personal tour guide, provided us with a fun afternoon. The food stops: mexican taco w/margarita sample, thai dishes w/refreshing ginger drink, walnut burger (I'm a huge meat eater and it was surprisingly good) & chips w/beer shooter, chocolate truffles, candied pecans, and ice-cream were delish! We bought many truffles and tins of pecans! Bart also showed us a mansion nearby with history. Different outing for us, but it was fun, especially with Bart!

I booked with Madison Eats because I wanted something for my group to do while in Madison. This was a group of architects from Louisville, KY which had not met prior to our flight into Madison.
We met Shar at our first stop to begin the evening. Shar is an amazing host. She is very personable, energetic, knowledgeable, and a pleasant person to be around. She kept us entertained with the history of Madison while taking a leisurely stroll around the capital.
Downtown Madison appeared very clean and safe. Though a lot of restaurants were closed, being a Sunday, Shar was able to set us up with a few stops that each had amazing food and drinks. Everyone in our group had plenty to eat and drink and went back to our hotel satisfied and full of stories from a memorable evening in Madison.
One surprising outcome of the walk was the comradery between my guests that resulted from spending an extended period of time during this enjoyable evening. Had we all merely met for dinner at a restaurant, we would have likely just went back to our hotel to sit in our own rooms. The bonding experience alone was worth the money.
I highly recommend booking a walk with Madison Eats. It was very reasonably priced and definitely worth the money and time that was spent. Othelia and her staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The next time that I take a group to Madison I will certainly be booking another walk with Madison Eats.

Wonderful tour with Amanda. We really appreciated all of the background information she provided as we rode from location to location. The restaurant selections were top notch. We were traveling from out of town but we also had locals on our tour who seemed equally impressed. Glad we planned this tour early on our trip as Amanda made a lot of helpful restaurant recommendations that we’re still enjoying. The ride itself was easy as the bikes do all of the work and were easy to operate.

Madison Eats Food Tours is a great way to familiarize yourself with and better understand the city of Madison, WI. This is a great experience for everyone, no matter if you're only dropping by for a few days or have lived in Madison for a while. There's always something new to learn and experience. There was a nice selection of delicious food. Plan on not eating before the tour (trust me).
Our tour guide Bart did an amazing job! As a former history teacher, he did an incredible job explaining some of Madison's history and presenting interesting/fun facts.

Our group of 4 rode the BBike tour with several food stops. We all really enjoyed the tour, and even Madison veterans were surprised at what they didn’t know. The electric assist bikes made it very rideable for people who haven’t done much biking. They were easy to learn and ride and hills were very mild to navigate. The food samples were all very good, and Otelhia was a great guide who is passionate about her city and it’s food. Bart was with us too as a trainee…. All in all it was a fun 3 hour tour and we were all satisfied. Come hungry!

Hi. I am looking to do a food tour for my birthday. I use a manual wheelchair. Would I be able to fully participate in the event?

How does it work? Do you meet at a specific location to begin the tour?

Hi, my wife is a vegetarian and gluten free. Will she have items to eat on the tour?
Written July 6, 2018
Hi! Thanks for your questions. Yes, we can accommodate both of those restrictions on our Willy Street tour and our Atwood tour. It is more difficult to accommodate the gluten-free restriction on our downtown tour, but we can definitely offer vegetarian options. Also, we cannot accommodate celiac.
Thank you for your interest! Let me know if I can help with anything else. - Otehlia, owner, Madison Eats Food Tours

Are breweries always in the selection of restaurants?

Hello! I offer a few different "standard" tours. An Atwood neighborhood lunch tour, Atwood dinner tour (Brew and Chew), which includes a micro brewery tour and beer sample, a food cart tour (no alcoholic beverages) and a B-cycle tour. Though most tours will include one alcoholic beverage sample, it is only guaranteed on the Atwood Brew and Chew tour. Also, the brewery tour is only during the evening Atwood Brew and Chew tour. Most tours are about 3 hours, though the food cart tour is a shorter lunch time tour around the Capitol square (1.5 hours). The costs run from $30 (food cart) to $69 (B-cycle). I also can arrange a private culinary tour, but depending on your needs and group size the price would vary. There are more details on my website. I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any further questions! You can call me as well at 608-628-8927 to discuss any other questions. Thank you, Otehlia
