One of my favorite events all year round! Went with my sister from Chicago and my niece and her boyfriend made the drive up that morning from Chicago to join us. I bought cheddar colored cauliflower, cucumbers, mushroom, kalrobi, bison and a gluten free/sugar free pumpkin scone! There are so many great GF choices. Silly Yak bakery is there, the... More

Downtown Madison especially around the Capitol Square is a must-see when you are in town. This is what makes Madison, Madison. Outside around the square, you should walk around the entire square and visit the local stores. You can picnic on the grass under the trees. Inside you have to see the beautiful architecture and artwork on the entire building.... More

During different times of the year you will have various festivals. Even when one is not occurring it is still a great place to visit

I was in town for 5 days and made a quick trip to the capital. Absolutely gorgeous! Highly recommend a visit.

We have been to many farmers' markets, but this is the best. It surrounds each of the four sides of the capitol. They have great things like grass fed pork beyond the ever-increasing in popularity of grass-fed beef. Unfortunately, it ended in September. Check out the schedule for the Capitol. We visited on a Saturday where we could go up... More

The farmers market around the square and the restuarants are really good! One of the most walkable and friendly places in Madison.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stroll up State Street to Capitol Square. It was fun watching all of the new college kids get to know their new city and new classmates, but the street was very busy. The stores all seemed quaint and fun. The Capitol building is breathtaking as well, so make sure to walk all the way around it to... More

Great place to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. The state Capitol was beautiful. Always felt safe walking around the area, lots of police patrolling.

Good place to start you look around the city. The Capitol building is open to the public and there is an excellent little Veterans Museum, both free. Its also the hub of Madison with streets leading off all round so its easy to find you way.

Very active downtown scene leading towards Capital Square and the lake water front away from the University of Wisconsin.
