We’d wanted to go here, since trying Old Sugar’s bourbon collaboration with the Great Dane a while back. So glad we did! We sat right next to a still, and tried many goodies. Our favorite was the #6 collaboration whiskey with the House of Brews. Flight prices/drink prices (for Madison especially) – were fantastic. Bartender was excellent, and very pleasant... More

Distillery laws are changing in many states and apparently in Wisconsin a distillery can operate much like a local brew pub in other states. The Old Sugar is in a neighborhood of older industrial buildings of unique character and value. The interior is spacious and the bar large with great views back to the street or to the work areas.... Happened upon this Distillery/Tasting Room when looking for tastings on Groupon. Stopped in on an overnight in Madison. Quite a busy night there. The groupon value was amazing, included tastings, 2 craft cocktails and an appetizer and 2 cocktail glasses. Sat at the bar and everyone who took care of us was nice and informative. Did a lot of tasting... More

Needed to redeem a gift certificate. We were greeted by the Bartender who was also the Production manager. We explained our reason for coming and he was most gracious. We had 2 tastings each and we then purchased a very smooth tasting bottle of rum. He spent time with us explaining the history of the still and the process they... More

When I'm forced to travel for work, I like to make sure they I look for unique local places. Old sugar is. I can now say I have tried a sorghum whiskey - and it was good. Met the owner who brought me up to speed on current activities. They had the still making brandy this evening. Try this place.

The last time we were here it was after dinner. It was a lot more crowded, but so fun and the outside seating was perfect under the stars. Yesterday we started our evening here, stopping in for a cocktail before dinner. It wasn't too hot and the sun was still shining so their outside patio was once again a perfect... More

Very disappointing experience. Service was bad and their products were not much better. The sorghum whiskey was their best offering. This kind of establishment needs to give the customers all the TLC they can if this is their product line. We were virtually ignored while we were there.

This is a super cool restored warehouse. A fun stop as a couple of with friends. Very nice staff and they really focus on making great drinks. They even allowed me to taste a couple of their spirits for free as I decided on my order. Great stop before of after dinner on the east side.

Loved this place -- super cool atmosphere in a converted warehouse (or something!). I was expecting the place to be overloaded with hipsters -- having relocated from NYC I wasn't looking forward to this aspect (sorry hipsters - I'm just over it!). Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to find a mix of people of all ages, shapes & sizes -... More
