If you looking to paddle on Lake Mendota, this is a great place to rent a boat. We kayaked close to shore and enjoyed looking at the beautiful lakefront homes. The staff were knowledgeable and it was easy to rent a boat online. When we got there, our boats were ready for us. Everything was organized so that life jackets were sanitized too. I really appreciated that. The price was reasonable as well. The only issue is that there are larger boats on Lake Mendota that you need to be aware of.

We had a great experience today renting a pontoon boat for two hours. There were six of us ranging in age from 14-74 years old. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the boat was immaculate and we had a great time. Will definitely do it again.

Staffed by young, enthusiastic people who know exactly what to do to get you safely in and out on the water. The watercraft and PFDs were all in great condition and extras like waterproof containers were available. To avoid motorboats and their wakes, get in and out early.

Due to a storm the night before the boat rental stayed closed on the day we came to rent kayaks. However, plenty of picnic tables at the beach and up in the shelter. The swimming beach is only about 30 feet wide and lots of weeds in the water but you can swim out to the where the sailboats are moored.

The kayak prices were very good (if they had been open)

Beautiful park and good parking.

We use Marshall Park as a sailboat launch and it works well. A bit of weed in the water, but there is good parking, enough launches, and friendly people.

Marshall Boats is a great way to enjoy Madison on the waters of Lake Mendota. Staff is helpful and friendly. The rental process was easy and we were enjoying our afternoon on the lake in no time. We highly recommend Marshall Boats!

Great day out on the lake thanks to Marshall Boats. A friend and I each rented a kayak and cruised the lake. It was a bit windy, so the return trip was much smoother than the other way. We decided to paddle to the conservatory (still badly flooded and in need of work). We we out 1 1/2 hours, but were charged a full extra hour. It may be nice to consider the base 1 hour charge, then add in a 1/2 hour extra before jumping right to an extra hour. Regardless, I will be back and will recommend to others!

Helpful tips: Come with clothes you don't mind getting wet. Same with the shoes. They do hold your ID until you return and then you pay after. So take your ID to rent, but leave everything else behind. They were just fine with me walking back to my card to get a credit card to pay. (Remember they have my ID.)

Marshall Park is a really great place to go for a little while or stay all day. Typically when I go, it is to use their Paddleboards with friends to play on a sunny day. Although, I own my own board, I like having them do all the “lifting.” Everyone is helpful, kind and treat you like family. Other water vessels to rent include canoes, kayaks, and pontoon boats!

We were delighted with the pontoon boat. Tyler helped me rent the boat, a captain and arrange for the boat's delivery to University Bay and its return to Marshall Park. Captain Bubba was entertaining and capable. He arrived on time at the University Bay boat landing with a tray of bottled water and trail bars from Tyler. The late afternoon cruise from University Bay to Mariner's Inn was lovely. By having Captain Bubba navigate the boat, my husband and I could focus on our guests, three of whom had never experienced a pontoon boat before.

We received very friendly, informative, safety conscious help from Tyler Leeper and staff at the new Marshall Boats at Marshall Park for our 3-hour, 12 person pontoon boat tour of Lake Mendota yesterday! And they were able to accommodate our wheelchair bound friend. What a great group to work with and reasonably priced! The food, Babcock Ice Cream and music at Memorial Union Terrace were great, too!
