We went to purchase some tour tickets for Mesa Verde National Park. The Lady working at desk was very friendly, she let us know their system was down but let us know where we could go to get tickets and how to get there. They also have a fun little gift shop there. Our experience was that Cortez is a... More

Colorado certainly knows how to run a tourist center! The staff was friendly and answered our questions. There were maps and brochures galore...and an added feature was the ability to book ranger-guided tours within Mesa Verde National Park. Try to book the day before you go or early in the morning, as tickets go fast.

What a helpful place! Beyond all the brochures, maps, and books, the staff is great. We were lucky enough to talk with Sandra, who was super helpful. We were traveling with our dog, so we asked where we could hike with her. She directed us to Hovenweep and some other good places. She also told us about a good winery... More

We travel a lot. Welcome centers are starting places for us no matter where we go. The service was so friendly, entertaining, accommodating, and helpful. It's clean, has all the usual stuff like brochures and a small shop for books and souvenirs. Few welcome centers have staff that hold up to our nerdy interests and can inform us of something... Great park nearby for kids to run and play. Has a great sledding hill if they allow that in winter. Lots of printed materials - hotels, towns, hunting and fishing guides. Gift shop has inventory of Mesa Verde Park souvenirs and also sells tickets for park tours. Plenty of parking.
