The owner is a gracious and knowledgeable host. He made the visit memorable. The drive up the canyon is a lovely experience and added to the overall joy of the visit. It was our 3rd and best visit to Sutcliffe Vineyards.

Has an amazing visit with John the owner. We were able to try several of their wines and get some of the stories behind them. Beautiful quiet patio with great views of the vineyard which comes right up to the patio. We will definitely be back! Loved the white wine blend! We bought serval bottles a nice mix of reds... More

The vineyard and tasting room/patio were lovely! The views are amazing; however, that was the highlight of the visit. $10 tasting fee for 4 tastes (they choose the wine you will taste) and they do not waive the fee if you make a purchase. Wines were not very good. Out of the 4 we tried, the Dry Reisling was the... More

We visited the vineyard for a wine tasting while we were camping in the area. John's vines have been planted for close to 20 years and are producing some seriously lovely wine. Many CO vintages are too sweet for my taste. Not Sutcliffe! All the red & whites we tried were delicious. The setting, tucked into the McElmo canyon, is... More

A surprising gem in the middle of nowhere here in Southwest Colorado. This local winery/vineyard has excellent wines in stock for tasting and purchasing. Once you taste, you'll purchase these delicious wines. The vineyard is nestled at the head of Sleeping Ute Mountain in McElmo Canyon a hop, skip and a jump from the Utah line.

They were closed, but they let us in anyway. What a wonderful quaint little winery. We got the Cabernet Sauvignon. It was awesome. You must stop here if you're in the neighborhood.

Positive reviews lead us to believe that the visit would be worth our while. Unfortunately our experience was less than favorable. The Riesling was acceptable; the Chardonnay was flat, lacking character; the Cabernet Franc and Syrah were both harsh and lacked complexity. Not sure how this establishment obtained such good reviews. After 16 years of producing wines, one would expect... More

A group of 8 went to Sutcliffe Vineyards for a wine tasting. It should have been more named a wine sipping, as we were only givien enough wine that covered the bottom of the glass. When we called to make our reservation, we were told that we would have our choice of 4 wine tastes, either white or red wine.... More

Finally made the visit here from the UK 13 years after first drinking these wines in Winslow, Arizona. They are really good and the setting for the winery is superb. On top of that John Sutcliffe is an excellent host, raconteur and wine enthusiast. It would be nice to think that my wife (maiden name also Sutcliffe) is a relation!!!

I've been unexcited about the Colorado wines I've tried at various tastings until I experienced some of John's. They are exceptional!!! We were passing though Cortez and had to stop and visit "the farm" in McElmo Canyon. Absolutely beautiful. We toured the wine making operation with John, met the crew and of course did a tasting, took some wine with... More
