We were in the Cortez area and I looked on tripadvisor to see recommendations for the area. I read the review for this guided horse tour and decided to book it for my 9 year old daugher and me. The reviews were spot on! Kristie was so knowledgable and we learned so much about the area. The views and surroundings... More

The owner of the ranch took us out. My 11 year old niece was put on a great horse and she had no problem at all with him. She is so light I can't imaging this big horse knew she was on him. Much to my surprise my teenage son and his friend actually got into the history lesson she... More

This trail ride takes you into the Canyons of the Ancients, right near Sand Canyon. You ride up the hillside to see some cliff dwelling ruins. Trail guide Cheryl did a great job for us, taking it easy getting up and down the hill. She even brought a snack for our three-hour ride. We had a delightful time. Special thanks... More

We happened upon Kristie's operation by consulting trip advisor, which gave it the highest rating of any "RV park" in the area. When we called and she asked us how many horses we would be bringing, we had to break it to her that we were coming for the location and the obvious scenery and had no equines in tow.... More

My wife and I took the half day ride at Canyon Trails Ranch. Kristie (owner) led our ride. She was very knowledgeable about the area and provided an interesting narrative throughout the ride. The scenery in the area is spectacular and awe inspiring. The ruin site we visited was a small one, but steeped in history, complete with ancient pottery... More

We showed up late. Not our fault, GPS had us pull in the wrong place, not even close. Christie told us it happens often and she has talked to the people at Google about it. It's another 8 miles from where we turned in the first time. Totally worth the effort to keep going. Thankfully we were the only two... More

I was not really looking forward to going horseback riding. I use to ride in high school but my wife really wanted to go. We had been on other trail rides that were not impressive. Let me tell you this is no regular trail ride. Well worth the money. We also got to explore cliff dwellings.

Cheryl took us on an unbelievable tour. The horses were well trained and we are beginner riders. We stopped and got to see caves and petro gylphs. Cheryl took pictures we will cherish forever. This tour is a must. The owners Kristie and Rodney run a first class ranch and camp ground. We are so HaPpY we made this stop.

We had a fantastic time in the Sand Canyon, guided by Cheryl. Deeply impressed all around - horses well cared of and groomed, all properly fitted (hey - they don't make saddle straps for 6'4* standard). Lovely day, scenery spectacular, easily accessible Anasazi ruins aplenty. What a way to do sightseeing! We were made very welcome, very well taken care... More
